That's it, i can't take it anymore. I was talking to some kid today and i was tellin him about the 240 because he was all interested in buying a sports car. He was lookin through his compact sports car magazine or whatever and he said he really didn't like how the 240 looked. I had a look for myself and it only showed the s14. Personally i'm a big fan of the s13 so i told him to search for one online or something. I talk to him the next day and he's like "yeah, i saw one finally. Its cool lookin but it looks like a ford probe". I flipped! I've heard people make that reference before but i haven't heard that in a long long time. I feel there is a very slight resemblance between the two but i have never and will never mistake a s13 240sx for a probe or vice vs. Maybe its just me, but i think that every probe ever made is the ugliest hunk of metal i've ever seen in my life. Is anyone else upset about the whole "s13 looks like a probe" thing or is that just me as well?

S13s are sooo nice looking. I hate probes, the only thing similar is the lights and hatchback, I love the back of S13s like 100 times more than Probes.

I don't have a S-13 and this is the second time I heard this. But I understand how it is when they mistake your car for something not even close. I hate it when people mistake my S-14 for a MX-6.

The Ford Probe is no more a Ford than a Geo/Chevy Prism is a Geo/Chevy. The Probe shares every mechanical bit, including the drivetrain, suspension, and brakes with the Mazda MX-6/626 Family, even the subframe is the same. Where as I don't personally care for the looks either, they are a formidable autocross/roadrace car in GT trim, and the old 2.2 intercooled turbo 5 speeds make great winter beater/ sleeper cars...

Ya I have heard people comparing 240 to MX-6 the only similarity is the head lights are almost the same size (but they are split). My brother hasa Mazda MX-6 and I am wonderign if I could beat him. His is auto and when I get my S13 (summertime, it will be auto). Who would win?

I walked into some huge auto mall outside of chicago looking for a 3rd gen RX-7 last summer. So I sit down with the guy and tell him what I'm looking for and he's clueless. A minute later he's like, oh is that the one that looks like a probe? I was like well it has flip up headlights, but otherwise it looks like an RX-7. Then he asked if it was a v-6 and I realized I was in the wrong place.

when i was about 16, i was getting an old ford probe. until i saw a red 240SX when i was about 17. i was like THAT is the car i'm getting, it looks like a probe except BETTER! so basically, people who don't know shit about cars will say stuff like that. when i got my car, i didn't think it looked like a probe anymore. hell my friend thought my car looked like an avenger at first. wtf

haah omg how could you mistaken such a beautiful and fast car for a crappy car. That is a disgrace, I mean everyone know what an RX-7 is, even people who hate imports have major respect for the RX-7.

My bros car (MX6) is like in real bad condition and my parents have bad problems with used cars now. I need some convincing argurments for them buying an S13.

Personally, I like the look of the Probe...it's a crying shame they aren't rwd. I understand what you're saying, though. I'd get erked b/c they thought my car was something it wasn't, but I wouldn't get all pissy about it...not everybody is a car guy/gal, so you can't get mad if they don't know. About the S13's being ugly? I personally think that anybody that says this must be on crack...it's got that classic sports car look. But anyway, it's really just a difference in taste. Like, alot of people here think Mustangs look like ass, but I happen to think the newer ones look pretty mean.

I would normally get pissed about it Lance, but i just wish people would drop it. I mean, you don't have to know shit about cars to notice visual differences between two objects. I'm sorry but i just don't see it, i don't see it

I think probes, s13's and old porshes look similar from the front at a distance...but up close the shape is completely different. Same with the mx-6 and s14.

I had a 2nd gen Probe GT until i crashed it. Let me tell you, for a car that size, it is VERY VERY safe. I hit a tow truck head on traveling at 40mph and he was going about the same. I broke my leg, otherwise i was very lucky.

Anyways, I miss my probe so please quit saying it's ugly I think both the 2nd gen Probe and my S13 look great, wouldn't trade them for anything else.

They don't have the black plastic inserts for the hood scoop anymore, and it was never meant to look like a HMIC (Hood Mounted Inter Cooler??? now that's ineffiency, it would never work, not enough room...I don't think they exist.), just a hood scoop, which is now functional. I think James was talking about the 1966 Shelby GT350 though.
Also, I don't think they do look all that good (the new ones), and the only "mean" looking American car left, is the Dodge Viper.

Hey, did anybody notice how similar an s13 looks to a Ford Probe? Stop kidding yourselves guys, they are very similar looking automobiles. Similar stance, popup lights, two door, hatch setup. They're both pretty good looking cars, just some of the little things make you prefer one of the other.

Beauty is all in the eyes of the beholder.

Some of you guys are just as bad as the domestic morons we all deal with everyday. When I say domestic morons I am talking about the idiots that if it isnt a (ford, chevy, dodge, etc) it cant be fast. I have a SR powered 240 but I also have a 98 Cobra Mustang and have had several in a long line of Mustangs. I think a 240 with the 91 and up front end looks alot like a Probe front end and I can see someone who doesnt know any better confusing them. We are not all "car people" most people just drive thier cars and the younger crowd just doesnt know. If someone mistakes your car for a car you dont like WHO F'N CARES!!! As far as the WRX giving a Cobra a run thats actually kind of funny! My Cobra still kills my 240 and it is stock, the 240 is catching up fast and will be faster by spring but for now it is the slower daily driver. Back to the haters that claim "insert and domestic here" is crap and breaks down all the time is just another import idiot in my book not a car enthusiast. I work on my car/cars because I like cars I dont care who made it. If it is fast, has potential to be fast, or just looks good I like it. My 240 is my first "import" car that I have built (at least stateside) and the only thing I dont like about it is alot of the import crowd are just plain childish and immature. There is a whole big world out there not just your world. This is not directed at anyone on this board directly more to the attitude in the Import world as a whole, I get just as pissed on the Mustang forums I go to.
[Rant mode off!!]
