To tell if your car has lsd:
Jack up the rear end so wheels are off the ground.  Have the car out of gear with the e-brake off.  Turn one wheel by hand.  If the other wheel turns in the same direction then you have lsd.  If it turns in the opposite direction then you have an open diffenential.
I think vlsd was only available as an option if you already had abs.  So no abs implies no lsd.
Also, there's supposed to be an orange sticker by the fill plug on the differential housing on vlsd units (or so I heard).
