s13 Car bounces/shakes when drifting

Hey lately I’ve noticed that my car sometimes like starts bouncing like hell when I’m drifting, like I don’t use the e-brake, I power over, and it just starts shaking, until either I shift, or I let off the gas, wtf is making this problem, I’ve got a stock 240 (suspension wise) and got pretty new Falken Azenis on all 4. I thought at first it may be my shocks or some other suspension part, but I wanted some more opinions before I went off and spent lots of $ on every part, when I could just isolate the problem with a few.

My guess is that your subframe bushing might be bad. Either that or it could be as simple as an alignment.

Bouncing sounds like a blown front damper.

blown shocks + fast turns = wheel hop

the shaking and vibrating is ur wheel "hopping" thru the turn.. get new shocks or just go with coilovers.

Just get some stock replacements for now and then save for some coilovers if you want to continue what you're doing. By the time those blow you should be able to afford some

Stock suspension is not gonna cut drifting. First, the bushings are 9 times out of ten worn and spongy. Your spring rates and shock/struts probably feel softer than old man after a sponge bath. You're probably riding too high anyways. I went with a full Battle Version set up, Nismo power brace and Apex'I N1 EXV coilovers... I also installed rear suspension bushing collars to stiffen the rear bushings and damn was Impressed. My car bounces around on hard like nobody's business, but let me tell you, I haven't met a rice burner that can keep up with me around the corners.... straight away, they all got me burned.... but I got 'em at the corners, and that's where it counts. I would say if you can't afford to pay the cash for some good coilovers then get some good springs and shocks/struts for now. And the bushing collars are cheap as hell for the upgrade you'd get. Poly Uerethane bushings are also wicked for drifting, but unless you have a press or know a good cheap machine shop who's willing to cut a deal to press the bushings in for ya, you might as well drop $60 on some aluminum collars. SPL, has some good ones, or go cheap and get em from Ebay. All in all, I spent less than $2500 on my suspension and I have 32 way adjustable damping and can change every setting on my suspension the way I want it when I want it. Oh and if you want to ditch some of those old rubber bushings, pick up some rods/arms with pillow ball mounts instead.... stiff as hell ride, but all the control you need.

Stock is nothing.....

You might want to use softer sidewall tires, usually a ROT is soft susp/soft tires, hard tires/hard susp. The azenis' might be a bit stiff and the stock susp. is doing all of the work. I noticed you said 4 new tires, and 4 new azenis' will definitely change the character of the car. And yes your shocks are probably tired/gone.

Also, $2500 susp. and a crappy driver...still makes a crappy driver. Upgrade to quality parts when you've truly outgrown a basic setup. Use advanced parts to help learning, not replace it.

LOL. this guy actually thought drifting on stock suspension was possible. Just because you see 240sx drifting. doesn't mean it's done on stock suspension. :retard:

ok NRG, im a nice guy, so im not gonna start a flame war with you, but what u are saying totally contradicts everything the whole drift community recommends about drifting. And that would be... Learn on what you've got, then once your comfortable, then you should begin to upgrade. Just as BrandC Said,

So if ur gonna call some1 a retard, then u might wanna look in the mirror cause all i wanted was some honost help, not some trying to give me shit cause he thinks hes all big and bad.
