Nice Japanese plate...but the designation for an S14 is 33, not 100, isn't it?

*sigh*

Here's some background info that you need to know:

I get my money every 3 months in $1500 increments.

OK, now let's see, 2 wheels w/o tires cost $1050 shipped.
All 4 would probably be somehting like 1900 or 2000.

So either I get 2 right now, see how they look, and then get the rest in another 3 months and spend a few hundred more

OR

Wait for 6 months , get EXTREEMELY IMPATIENT, and get all 4
to save a few hundred.

These are AVS Model 6s... how can I possibly wait 6 months?

And another thing. I was reading on boards how 17" x 8" might not fit in the front, so even after I get all 4 wheels, I might have to get spacers which means I have to go with that 2 wheel setup until I get them. And in the worst case scenario, I might need longer wheel studs in the front so that I can use spacers which means more money and time.

Hey i'm doing the same thing.. cause of the many variables about my setup, (coils, 17x8's with a 40 offset) stuff like that

Wow, where do you get $1500 in 3 months? work? or did you win the lottery? j/w
hook me up, i want that too

I'm sure 17x 8's will fit in the front with the right offset, 35 or so i hear.

not trying to sound like too much of a prick, but your car looks stupid.

the no-grille looks like you had front end damage and couldnt find the part, and the 2 wheels thing looks terrible. 4 nice wheels would be better than 2 advans. besides, gold and grey are a terrible combo. the side skirts are available at a shop near my house for 150US, so if you paid that much, thats terrible.

I know that Drifters do that because of offset variables, and for looks. Most drifters I hear of are not rich either though

heh, is it my fault they give me more money than I need? I dont even buy my own books because I have book vouchers and I dont pay class fees because I'm so damn poor so I only use the money for gas which is about $100+.

anyways, here's some more stuff to laugh or scold at about my car. Enjoy.

i don't feel a bit sorry for anyone who spends 2 grand on wheels with no tires. that is just absurd. you are aware that for the price of your oh so great advans and whatever tires you slap on there you can toss a turbo on the KA? and by the way, i make 7 grand a year (only work 4 months cause of college) and get by just fine....i don't see how in the world you don't have any money with a positive cash flow of 1500 every three months.

anyway.....i'm getting out of hand, i just can't justify spending that much money on something that makes your car slower. how are wheels THAT cool?

Would you agree that Boosting your car isn't for everybody?

I mean i'm not trying to put things in your face.. but for some ppl, they just go down different paths.

Some ppl like to work on the pretty things first. Then Performance.. Most of us work on better handling and forced induction first and then no or some wicked stuff for our 240s.

It's just driver's choice.. he said it himself he's working on performance next, or did i misinterpret.

I do see your point though.. $2100+(however much he spent) is well enough in that range for a KA-T, or some good tuning.

I think it looks somewhat nice. If you want some mesh (even 4lug mesh) try some old school bbs , ssr's or something; this website has some usually for around 500.00 for two w/ tires, usually no tread: http://minuitauto.tripod.com . and http://www.jspec.com gets em' also. FUCK all those dumbasses that talk shit bout ur ride. I've done the same w/ my s14 right now it has 15" black mesh ssr's infront w/ 17x8 o.z. gunmetal f1 cup in the back, because for everyday use I need the traction on the rear, but on the fun days I swap those suckers out and since I have the mesh upfront I don't have to change them all the time. I did the same thing w/ my center piece, that's one ugly piece-o-crap. I can appreciate that car, too bad it's not boosted either a ka-T or a sr20det then you'd rip the shit out of fools w/ their pretty show cars....It doesnt look intimidating, but that would be the best part. That's what I get all the time, but after theyre in my rearview I really can't see them.

hey well I kinda used my financial aid on well something else

and yes two grand is worth it for some wheels, but I'd rather get 4 at the same time. and a KA-T requires more than $2000, esp if you want it to run right.

but yea, its all preference, each to his her own.

tsunami dont drop out of school or else you're fvcked!!

Yeah, I dont want a KA-T because I want sometihng reliable and right now my KA is kinda... yech. I have a feeling it's gonna blow up when i hit 150k miles. ANyways, even though my car is stock performance wise, it's kinda fun to take turns really fast when a goddamn car is trying to push me from behind. A few days ago I was exiting off a freeway and this accord was tailgating me for some reason (I drive as fast as the speed limit usually), so when it came for the donut turn onto the street I was going to exit on, I slammed on the gas and took the turn at around 55. Surprisingly my tires didnt squeel or screech or anything (thank you performance tires). But once I got on the street, I slowed down and waited for a few seconds and heard a very loud and prolonged screeech. It sounded like the guy's tires were being ripped apart so when he finally showed up behind me, he started driving slow and made a left onto another street.

Samiam, yeah, my friends were planning to go to LA next week to So Cal Alteration (or wherever those rims on driftmania are) to pick up some mesh rims. I heard the guy had 16" SSR Reverse mesh wheels, so if the place has them in stock, I'm probably going to get them. ... hey you got any pics of your car? I really want to see what your s14 looks like with 15" mesh.

I aint gunna drop out of school. I'm smart......... smart enough to use the last 2 years of my financial aid when I'm at a university!!!!!(I get more money if I'm attending a university)

Personally I think thats a really nice color combo with those wheels, and it will look sweet once you get the front ones on there. I really like advan wheels butt never knew how the model 6's would look on a 240. I like it. I'm considering those wheels for my ride now.

I will be hooking up looks and suspension right now b/c I am going to college and working full time. I need RELIABLE transportation. So No turbo cars for me till I'm done with college. But that won't stop me from prepping my car for the big power (and looks) shes destined for.

also I thought drifters put the 15' mesh wheels on the back to reduce rotating mass and make drifting easier.

Well, some do...I actually go all(four) reverse mesh on mine when I'm attempting a poor excuse for a drift and spontaneous made figure eight tracks and sometimes Auto-X'ing....It all depends 16" would have been better though. But, for everyday use I have the massive ones.....A MUST FOR ME. I'll try and get the pics up I'm in the transition of moving right now. And hopefully I'll get my C-west bumper on w/ my wifes tax return and finally build a damn sileighty for her...

i wasn't trying to say that he should get a turbo instead of wheels, just trying to put everything in perspective of how rediculous a 3000 dollar wheel and tire combo is. i mean, good lord, you can buy an entire car for that.

"it's kinda fun to take turns really fast"

i agree, but i think you'd probably corner better with 17's than 18's. not to mention the fact that you can get a spring & shock combo as well as other suspension upgrades for the 1000+ dollars you save from getting 17's instead of 18's.

but if spending 3grand on wheels and tires makes you happy......then do it i guess......as you have

SilEighty?! WIll you marry me?

Tnord, we all have different priorities with our cars. Yes, spending 3k on wheels and tires is ridicous (i've only spent 1300 so far), but so is spending 4k on a turbo when I have no interesting in going over 300hp. As you can already tell, i want to be satisfied with the way my car looks. When I got my car back in '99 I thought it was decent looking, but over time, my interest in cars increased so eventually I started finding a lot of things wrong with the way my car looked. Yes, that's shallow, but that's me. So now, thousands of dollars later, I am extremely pleased with the way it looks. To me, it's unique and cool looking. Now with that out of the way, I can work on suspension because, well, to me suspension is WAY more important than power (driver skill is also a plus). Heh, even my cousin, who has a near stock Integra LS was able to keep up with an R32 in the mountains (for those of you in the bay area, that's Hubert's R32 and we were on Hwy9). His car is VERY nice looking and he has lightweight 15s and springs and shocks; no performance mods other than an intake. I don't care if a Skyline can beat me in a straight line, I just want to be able to keep up with one on a bunch of turns.... and look cool while I do it

I don't care if a Skyline can beat me in a straight line, I just want to be able to keep up with one on a bunch of turns.... and look cool while I do it

Dude, that's MY route when I get around to getting an S14. Either way through the streets and freeways in the Bay Area, I'm still driving the same speed as I would with any car. So power isn't my concern unless the car was incredibly slow and it's hindering my driving. That's the kind of route a lot of my friends are going with. Suspension first (spring, shocks, or coilover systems, sway bars, etc), then some looks so the car doesn't look like ass (also to make their car easier to find in the parking lot), and whatever makes driving a bit more enjoyable. Besides, power is a major issue when you're dealing with drag racing, but why waste a car that handles as great as a 240SX for DRAG RACING?

You don't necessarily have to drift. Grip is also just as fun.
