well me buddy is looking to do a sr swap in an s13 shell so he was talking to his friend at the local shop and he offered him a ca18det engine , tranny, ecu and harness for $650. anyway the guy said he has it sitting there because someone ordered it and now they dont want it. he said we should just take it for now and put the sr in later when we get the cash. now woul it be worth it just for now and to havve for later to build and what not? and i hear the parts for upgrades can be hard to come by, is this true? so what do you guys think??

for that price you could spend the difference in upgrades and have a 9,000 rpm Monster! (so too speak) Wee!

Thats an awesome price. I would buy it even if all I was gonna do is sell it on ebay. LOL

Hey i'm really interested. Does it come with everything i will need? My SOHC is still healthy but my friend has a nissan pickup that needs a new engine, so i was proposing he give me $$ for mine, so i can pick up a CA or SR. Also how much will the shop charge to put it in?

Of course this is assuming that you dont pick it up first

dude i will give him 700 for that engine right here, today.
if you dont buy it for some reason please put me in contact with him ASAP, [email protected] or (304) 775-2903 so i can make arrangements to buy it before he sells it.
it uses different wiring and ecu than the SR20, so if thats what you really want just save up and swap in the sr. personally, i have to drive mine in the winter and i dont want anything more than the 200 hp a ca will give me with intake, exhaust, pullies, camshaft gears, and such.
oh and if i havent made it obvious i REALLY want that engine!

cool man. but for that price if it is ready for installation, i think it is a steal...but you might want to see how long its been sitting around, but i'm sure you know what to check for. for that price maybe even more i am very interested though, i mgiht be selling my ka24e with enough money to buy it and some parts

yeah i will definatley let you know the details. my friend jsut told me today so we have to find out more. unfortunatly about the price, $650 is what they will sell it to my friend for so... im not sure what they will sell it to other people for, because they are friends, you know. but yeah all i know is someone ordered it then never finished paying and never brought his car in so i believe they just have it at the shop. anyway i will let you know for sure..

Ok, that guy doesn't know what he's talking about. The ca18det was in the early s13, not s12...

i emailed the guy and asked him if he had ecu's and wiring harnesses with em or if i could buy them seperatly and he never emailed me back.

Well, it's good to see that more people are looking at the CA instead of the SR. It really is a great little engine, it was only discontinued because of expense if memory serves me.
