KA Little 240 that couldnt...

I just drove my 240 today for the first time and after awhile istarted to feel a big power loss. The car doesnt seem to accelerate past 3k rpms and when the car is moving steady it feels as if the engine may cut out. I dont think all the cylinders are firing so im gonna replace the plugs and wires. Its a black 93 5 speed coupe. If anyone has any advice or can point me in the right direction id appreciate it.

If it doesnt revv past 3k its your MAF sensor. Check for faulty connection.

It revs but it doesnt seem to go anywhere. Either theres somethin wrong with it or 240s are slow stock which breaks my heart cuz i love 240s. I feel like its slower than my 95 auto civic dx (stock!). Just reading back over that tells me their is somethin wrong with it.

lol, yes they are, btw how many miles try doing compression test, u said it feels like not all cylinders are firing? if it was spark plugs you would feel it all the time not only after 3k, but yeah it wouldnt hurt to change them..and don't forget those oil changes

the car has 145k on it and after pulling out the plug wires i found large amounts of dark oil in the 1st and 2nd holes and this orange sludge crap in the 3rd and 4th. It doesnt look normal at all to me. Ill try to post some pics of the plugs if i can figure out how.

I bought the car from a used car dealership 3 days after they got it. They drove it from FT. Lauderdale which is about 50 miles away from the dealer and from there on i dont know. It was "supposedly " owned by a female which hopefully means it wasnt run too hard. Thnx to all that have posted up advice i appreciate it.

I just ran the self diagnostic tool on my 240s ecu. I got the knock sensor code which is 34. Dont really know what it does but the name "Knock" certainly portrays what my KA has been doin while I drive it..Knockin!!! Hopefully theres a post on the part somewhere if not ill post a request for an explanation.

I have new cap,rotor, plugs, and wires on the way. I read that i should try cleaning my maf sensor and aiv sensor. One problem. I dont know where any of this stuff is and i cant find the information on the web much less find a manual for the 240. Doesnt look like im getting any posts now but let me know if anyone can help me on this.

sounds like your spark plug tube seals are bad and they tried to use orange rtv on them, the oil leak on the plugs can cause miss fires. i d order a new valve cover gasket and spark plug tube gasket while your in there.

I ordered the valve cover gasket seal too i just need to get the other gaskets for the plugs. Thanks for the FSM site im downloading mine right now! Thnx for all the help!

The car runs at 1k rpms at idle and 500 with the maf sensor unplugged. The cars exhaust smells like pure gas also.
