thanks guys.... so 7 inch width would be ideal for 215 or 225 tires?

Basically.  The general rule is 6.5 = 205; 7.0 = 215; 7.5 = 225.

You may be able to fit a 215 onto a 6.5", depending on the actual width (like a Falken Azenis 215 would never fit b/c it is more like a 225, but Kumho 712 would).
