How to tell which cam in the DE is the Exhaust car

My friend has them both out of the motor, but doesn't know which one is the exhaust and which one is the intake cam. How do you tell? He said one has the number 3 on it, and the other has the number 4. Anyone know?

The numbers don't mean anything. To find the intake cam, when the first lobe is at the 12 o'clock position the pin on the front of the cam also be at 12 o'clock. The exhaust cam lob and pin relationship is noticeably different.

ok forget the previous statement, made by me on 240silvia's name. i figured out which one is which. now its just a matter of figureing out if there is a specific way to install the exhasut cam on the intake side or if its exactly like the link to jim wollf if soo it shal be cake and i have no worries. but as i searched more and more i came to the conclusionthat jim wolf'sinstall of the cams might not be the right way to install just the exhaust cam on the intake side. someone fill me in please. thanx

Read the link in the second post. As long as he put the motor at TDC for number one he should be good to go. I forgot to do this on mine. However I lucked out BIG time. My was at TDC by accident.
