you need to soak the bolts/studs in wd40/PB blaster/whatever
for removing studs/bolts broken off inside the head you have a few options: 1. e-z-out kit (may not be the real name) from sears. this is a reverse drill bit set that bites into the broken stud and spins it out. use some cutting oil for lubrication when drilling into the stud. if you break one of these off and get it stuck in the bolt, forget it. they are made of hardened steel and you will not be able to drill them out (see #3). 2. weld a piece onto the broken stud/bolt that you can then grip and remove. 3. drill out the bolt, re-tap it for a larger bolt. this usually requires a drill press and removal of the engine cause its real hard to drill a straight/perpendicular hole with a hand drill. 4. crazy expensive laser cutting removal. gota send the head out for this one. 5. new head. |
