Getting my 91 fastback painted tomorrow, but am I paying too much? PICS 2ND PAGE!!!!!
***********PICSSSSSSS 2ND PAGE*************
Hey all, tomorrow I am going to bring my car to be painted, to a bodyshop that is owned by a friend of mine's father. I have gotten various quotes from him because I first wanted to you use my M-sports body kit (which I have decided not to, and have been trying to sell for weeks!) and give my white car a nice white pearl paint. I got quoted 900. I since have decided that I would rather paint my car the stock q11 paint ( i believe the s13 white is called nissan super white, correct me if im wrong.) and clean up the millions of dents and my half rusted hatch. for this he quoted me 800 bucks. Now i was like wtf man, Thats alot for doing just stock repaint etc so let me break down whats going to be done and you guys tell me if it is right for that price. First 2 stage ppg premium paint, sealing of my massively fucked up hatch, ![]() fixing of around 20 some dents on my car, no door jams, wetsand buff etc... as well as all the prep work. do you guys think that is honestly worth 800 bucks? I mean the guy does good work, I have seen the cars he puts out, deffinately not maaco style at all, but what have most of you guys paid for repaints? **Also while im on the subject do anyo fo you have another nissan or some sort of white that you would recommend I use, and if you do please provide the paint code.** I figured I would shop around and I decided to go to another bodyshop in the area and they quoted me 1150 for the same thing (which I think is crack prices, mabe because they had a few lambos in the shop under the knife). well what should I do, oh and I am realy contemplating pulling a dousan and tossing some flake (blue for me) into the clear coat. So yea just tell me what you think about this service im getting, if its worth it etc... oh also he told me that he wouldnt paint the black trimming ( the side mirrors and trimming on the outside of the a-pilar) for some stupid reason which i think is bogus sayin oh its plastic and bla bla bla, bs thats all. so he is going to take out all dings, sand, primer, seal the hatch and paint whole car for 800? i think that actually pretty cheap if its done right.

haha you make liike dousan invented flake
but on the real, please dont put flake unless youre kitted to stay on topic though, that price is pretty decent for body work + paint, especially with ppg paint your paint is white, you might just be able to get away with re-clearing the car the a pillar trim is actually black vinyl overlay

That's hella cheap. Hook up price for all that work done to my car would be like. 2x that. Wow. . .if I could find a deal like that my car would be looking good again.

Thats really a good price you are not getting ripped of. Its all labor that you are paying for. A shop would rather cut the price of supplies than labor.
Taking out 20 some dents it tedious work. You should buy the guy a beer. |

Yeah, that's a great price. But it does make me wonder if you just swapped out the hatch for a spoilerless one would it lower the price even more?

The $100 difference reflects only the cost of paint, the labor doesn't change no matter what color it is.
And $800 is stupid cheap. I'd get all over that like a fat girl at a buffet ten minutes before closing time.

Sound like a good deal to me ...I have heard of dudes paying more than 3hundro for just a cut and polish. You gotta figure that almost all shops charge at least $80-$90 per hour, at least here in Sac. that does not leave much left for product off your $800 bill. I say go for it and post up some good pics when you get it back.

1. Fucking great deal. Buy your buddy (and/or his dad) a hooker or a keg after you get your car back.
2. (and I can't stress this enough) WK0 Aspen White Pearl for the motherfucking WIN. If I had a white fastback and needed a repaint, that's what I'd go with. Before being on S14s, it was on 180sx's.
