91-93...91 to be more precise...from what i remember reading here...that's the year with the best cams...also, being newer than the sohc...you are more likely to find one with a lower mileage...

edit:  i just realized something...the engine inside the car really wouldn't matter because you're getting it swapped out...choose the body style you want...and that should be enough...you shouldn't really concern yourself with the present engine...if you are not going to keep it in there anyways...
