I had a flex-a-lite adjustable thermostat until recently the relay broke. ![]()

I have used the Hayden Model # 3647 with good results. This model is a probe style, has an adjustable pot, includes option for auto on anytime the A/C is on, can be wired to work with or without the ignition being in on position (i.e., after engine is stopped, with the ignition in off, will still run the fan if high temp. condition exists). About $45 at pep boys.

Basically you just need the thermo switch and a relay or two. I bought my thermoswitch+relay+wiring kit from ebay but they sell them many places. I got the non-adjustable one because it was cheaper but you may want to have some more flexibility like with the Hayden kit mentioned above.
With the threaded sensor type you'll need to find a way to put the thermoswitch into the coolant, maybe by using one of these: ![]() Some other types, possibly the Hayden mentioned above, can just be shoved into the fins of the radiator. If you're tired of flipping the switch one thing you could do immediately, without a thermoswitch, is modify your wiring job so that the fan relay is wired off the ACC relay. This makes the fan(s) turn on anytime the ignition is on. GL |
