weee lol i just scooted my seat forward and it's soooo much better when i'm picking up groceries in my race car! im like ABRAWRR all the way to Von's omg!

..i doubt most people here actually drive their cars hard enough to be able to tell if their roll center is optimized. they just want to do some stupid little shit to their car and act like it's some race car technology so they can tell girls about it. granted, what you said is correct. lowered cars w/out corrected geometry handle worse. its just that.. who gives a damn. it's not like you're competing for .1 of a second or anything.
in short,
a dumped car that still gets beat is less ricey than a car with a bunch of susp. shit that sits in your driveway..

its all about the rule of diminishing returns.

low can be cool, but too low is just pointless for anything but a style. and a proper setup, as mentioned, will work well.

i have everything but the 3 rear arms pretty much, i'll get some RUCA's to help with tire wear, but otherwise i wont use the extra arms to my advantage and i dont believe in buying parts that im just going to be able to type on a "mod list" and not actually get proper use out of em.

those who complain about ride quality, either don't have all the suspension arms, or aren't riding on quality. Not to mention the fact being slammed on 15s/16s is idiotic, that's just asking for problems, go with 17s/18s. You won't have to worry as much.

Still complaining about how expensive it is ??? Try this ......... save up !!!

This thread is made of ass and poo.

-Roll center doesn't matter for 90% of the people in this thread... at all.

-of coarse tucking 15s isn't the best for funky fresh handling. it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure that out. 15s aren't the best, you don't see everyone with FNs. "Im escaping from the ways of stockness" threads.

-How come noone has mentioned that hes trying to judge handling on a car with 12/10kg springs and stock 15in wheels?

well i just got some trust coilovers a few days ago the ride is really stiff even with the rear set on 4, but i can make it softer just by turning a knob.. so im not bitching... i live in east texas and the roads here are shit honestly.... im still thinking about adjusting the front to where its a little lower.. the stiffer suspension is amazing when your flying around corners on back country roads

yea the negative camber in the back is f'in horrible.. but that will be fixed ina few weeks when my stuff gets here...

megan track coilovers have stiffer springs, but aren't revalved for the uprated springs. YOu are stupid to worry about 'axle angle' these cars don't have super sensitive axles that fall aprat if the angle if off. YOu will break them from crashing ot a whole lotta HP before 'bad axle angle' will do anything.

How do you know that the race series Megan Racing coilovers aren't revalved for 12/10 springs?

i run SS so i dont have the ride comfort issues but i wanted to ask a noob slamming question. i was reading up on the "how low can u go" thread and people are mentioning that they remove collars? is that even safe? also wont lowering the hell out of coils preload the spring and mess up the handling/ride?

If your car has never seen a track, then your a ricer. Unless... there is another word for guys who have never tracked but do not consider themselves a ricer. Is it Tuner? I'm kidding, don't listen to me, because i just got home from HIN at the Q and walked away feeling very queezy and saddened.

i would and will until you post action shots. all you do is hate in the for sale forum and randomly insert pictures of that grocery getter in threads it doesn't belong in. wow, a dumped thread, perfect opportunity for you to show off your mismatched wheels and horrible tastes in aero!!!!

oh please... are you serious? i just saw a picture of your car... he has MUCH better taste in aero than you do (i can be an intraweb badass too). i love how people are quick to toss out the ricer card when they have no buisness using the term. i rarely share my opinion on this site, because i frequently get shitted on for doing so. fuck it. im tired of some of the people around here getting all bent out of shape all the time. ESPECIALLY when it comes to tearing people apart for their wheels. its such a fucking joke. aparently you're not cool around here if you dont have a F&F body kit and 10" wheels with a 8" lip. oh, and if you dont drift, you should sell your car so it will get 'used properly'. some of you have the maturity of an 8 year old... but whatever. im done with that rant.

my favorite car in this whole thread is the black kouki with the lip and the welds (the slammed car thread). thats good taste right there. congrats to that owner for having the balls to form his own opinion of what is fun in a car. +1 more for having bigger balls and posting pictures on this site.

OK, how can any one say that bigger rims are better for performance. The ONLY thing big rims help with is tire deflection with non R compound tires, and fitting brakes. Do you ever see real race cars with ubber small sidewalls? Look at fuckin F1 cars. They have like 12" wheels. Big wheels however do hurt you tremendously. There heavy, so you need big brakes to slow them down. They also put the center moment of intertia further from the center (making it harder to start and stop), clearence issues, tire prices, ect ect ect..... The only reason you people put 17-18's on your car is style, and for the people who really drive its for tire defection. 16's on a S13 do quite well. I should know.

i didnt shit on anybody. your reading skills pwn. i was stating how people get bitched at because they do different things with the cars. my allegiance is not strictly drag, nor strictly any one single aspect of it. i can respect every part of motorsports wether i participate or not.

bullshit and sarcasm aside, this is the only thing you said that i would ever agree with:

Right but you ignored the fact that this is a street car and is driven daily not on r compounds so to get less tire deflection and actually get a better feel from your uber jdm coilovers ( or in his case way to stiff megans) you need a bigger wheel.

The increase is the less tire deflection because of the smaller side wall. This is irrelevent on a real race car, and IMO not worth the extra hassel over 16" rims on a S13. S14's are great with 17" rims because they dont have the same poor travel in the suspension as a S13 does, so they can get away with it and get slightly better performance out of street tires. If they were racing they would be unnessicary because of the extremely stiff sidewalls in r compound and racing slick tires.

Also if you can get a light weight 17" rim, you can get an even lighter 16" rim.

OK to clarify I'm talking about S13's primarily(it also applys to S14's, but only with 18's). The lack of suspension travel (espically in the front) makes the larger wheel more problematic than helpful. You can get a lower roll center and have no clearence problems and correct linkage angles. If you put 17" (or god forbid 18" rims) on a S13 you are doing more harm than good performance wise. ALL YOU ARE GAINING IS LESS TIRE DEFLECTION. Now weigh that against everything bad that comes from bigger wheels.

More weight
decreased acceleration speed
increased brakeing distance
increase tendancy to have brake fade
rubbing (cutting throught the infumous harness in the driver side wheel well)
more expensive tires

I would rather PSI my tires a little bit more or strech my tires on a wider rims to help with the deflection with street tires. That is why I only run 16" rims.

ok dude. you really need to stop typing.

WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT.

ok, lets disregard your comment about trying to compare f1 wheel sizes to production street cars, because i dont want to have an annurism right now by explaining how awesomley retarded/uneducated that statment is.

why is tire deflection irrelevant on a real race car? that makes no sense.
s13s have poor suspension travel? any idiot with dual height adjustable coilovers can set a car up to have full suspension travel. dont droop the spring and youre good. again, your comment makes no sense.
have you ever seen touring cars. DTM series. le mans. jgtc. porsche cups. blah blah blah. TONS of race cars utilize 18, 19 inch wheels. the reasons have absolutley nothing to do with any of the crap you are sputtering in your post.
again, s14s have less suspension travel in the front? compared to what? on what shocks? what the hell are you talking about?

if your tires rub on your fenders and chop up your harness, you need to learn somthing about wheel fitment. i cant help you with that. i tuck tread on 18s in front, no rub, no harness damage. and yes. more expensive tires. i can deffinitley see why that would be a concern of yours, looking at your car pic in your sig. stock bumper, skirts, rice wing, mismatched panels, mismatched wheels, you deffinitley look like a performance minded individual.

I'm glad chmercer got him before I did.

BTW I run 17x9s all around, why, because it looks nice, you can run bigger brakes, stretch tires more, and BTW never compare purpose-built to mass production. It shows you really do not have the ability to make legitamate comparisons.

Having a wing on the back of a street car is pretty useless eh Pimpflex

and why is it, that on stock m3s and 911s which are known for handling. seem to have 18s. OMG huge wheels tire deflection decreased suspension travel boo hoo !
