I was going to consider swapping a VG30DETT into my 90' fastback with the custom engine. What you think about this?

Wont fit, thats why i would have it get it custom. 1k for the motor, 1k for the rest.

Just a thousand for the motor? Isnt that a little cheap, or are they just a lot cheaper than SR's?

It sounds pretty cheap to me, but then again, they don't have to be imported like SR's do...

$200 for a KA with no tranny.
$1000 for a VG30DETT with the harness and electronics, and tranny.... it's possible, but being more of a "famous" model, not as likely.

Ussually when a VG30DETT is even close to being sold for near $1000 the turbos are ussually sold sepratley. It will fit, cause it's been done before, but it will cost a shit load of money to do it.

someone's done this swap and they said due to the engine being shorter and having mosts of the engine behind the front axle, it did not throw off the balance of the car noticeably.

if it did, it would still be better than a camaro i'd imagine!

I would like to thank do0ke for bringing this up. This is an amazing idea. I was considering the SR for a while, and just the KA-T, but this seems to be a little more logical. A twin turbo 300hp Z engine would be one hell of a swap. But as far as I know, the Z's have a wider engine bay and they are crammed as it is. How much further could you go with performance mods in just a compacted area?

My guess would be that for a price of a VG30DETT swap you'll be able to turbo your KA (or run SRDET) with 350++ hp.... anyone can confirm?

I do recall a post earlier from some emails with a shop that has done this swap. They said the engine could bolt in OK on the the OEM motor mounts, though some custom ones would fit better. The 240sx has a bit roomier engine bay, longer than that of the Z. Also mentioned in the email that a shorter driveshaft was needed, as was a custom hood to give the engine clearance.
