Inner tie rod? Outter tie rod?
I just had by car jacked up when doing the brakes and I was looking over the suspension. I saw one tie rod that comes out of the steering rack (with a boot) and then connects to a rod end which connects to the knuckle (I think that is what it is called).
Is this the inner or outter tie rod? Where is the other tie rod loacted? Also, how do you see if the rod or end link is bad or worn?

Okay, according to this write up, I was looking at the inner. Where is the outter located?

If its busted with all the goo gone, change it. Jack the car and push the wheel side to side, thatll give you a sense of how bad your tie rod ends are. While your at it, push the top and bottom in and see if theres play. If there is then your wheel bearings are goin out too. There should be no play on the wheels in any direction when you jack it. If you push sides and it wiggles, then tie rods are crap. Top and bottom, wheel bearings.
