propane vs water injection
i understand that propane injection is primarily used for diesels but ive been using the old "search" button^^ and it seems like people are missing the point of propane injection(i think...or maybe i am...). ok well when it comes to gas, isnt the main purpose of using propane to boost the octane rating so you can run much higher boost levels safely? i mean, its not used (like diesel) just to boost the power. right? just the octane rating...right?
and for water injection, it seems it kind of defeats its own purpose(please correct me if im wrong.) it way of reducing detenation is by cooling the combustion chamber, so you can turn up the boost. but at the same time its not the octane thats being raised, just cooled, so power producing heat is absorbed. |

Why are you talking about propane water injection, its completly pointless to do on a KA/SR/whatever.
How about forgetting about customizing some stupid water/propane whatever the fuck you are talking about and just strengthening engine internals to hold more boost, simple.

You really need to read more about each subject before asking questions cause it seems that you have no concept of ether.

Lots of cars use water or alcohol injection to run higher boost than they woudl be able to on pump gas, higher timing than they should be able to on pump gas, or a little of both. Propane injection is kind of risky for track or street use; with the number of crashes from drifters on streets and on the track, I would never recommend that anybody on zilvia add a tank of pressurized flammable gas to their car. Alcohol...yea, not a bad idea. You'll find more info on grand national, subaru, etc. forums than on these.

I'm actually agree-ing with s14db for once.
Ask and ye'shall recieve but next time search better (try google for this broad subject). Propane and water have nothing to do with raising the octane of your fuel. They have to do with lower combustion temperature far enough so that your low octane fuel does not preignite due to residual heat. Cost of a properly implemented water/alc etc system runs at a price that you may as well spend a little extra and get things done right. You don't have to go crazy, just some pistons and a nice hone. What happens when you run out of your liquid of choice midboost? You explode. Plus it doesn't allow you to run MORE boost safely, it just prevents detonation. It's an added just in case measure at best.
