You mentioned sputtering but not smoke. Is there any smoke? ( boost leak?) Check the ecu for codes, If there isn't any, force a mafs malfunction, clear the code then plug in the mafs. ECU should bounce back after that.(recalibrate)

If, you did get the something wet with TB cleaner it should dry pretty quickly.
I have three MAFs you can try. 1sohc, 1redtop and 1z32n62, 1 of the three can be purchased for the price of a full tank of premium93.
