smoke
whats up, I got a s13 blacktop and have a little smoke coming from the exhaust. (looks white) And it starts to smoke after I punch it or get on it thougha few gears. no smoke at start up. I did a compression check and it was 165 all around. looked at the intercooler pipe and no oil, just dirty. I use a little coolant but i don't have a overflow tank. don't lose any power, just smokes a little. Any ideas, it's better to be safe then sorry. Thanks for any feedback. love the swap .

head gasket leak can occur when compression is high while you are driving. a really bad gasket leak will leak compression at idle and will smoke at idle. it could be that when you punch it, the head leaks, and you get white smoke (white smoke is steam from oil and coolant mixing up) check your oil, if it looks like chocolate milk, you gotta bad head gasket. or, it COULD be going bad. check your water to see if theres oil in it.

are you sure the smoke is "white" ? cus white smoke is steam..maybe its blueish gray?? if so, thats oil. could be piston rings or turbo seals. i would recommend a leakdown test. compression test arent as accurate.

Yea, try leakdown test. Just cause compression is good, dosen't mean oil rings are good! Have had that happen to a friend. Tryed everything before finding out it was oil rings. If you think it is a head gasket, try a block test. Very easy to do!!
