Unfortunately you picked 52mm gauges that have the largest overall diameter. I've never actually tried to squeeze 52mm gauges in that spot. The only thing that you would have going for you is that the S13 radio opening is an over-sized double DIN.

how do you feel about the jbl ms8? i planned on running a pdx 5 channel and rainbow germanium line components with either a carputer or ddin nav unit, and was wondering if you had any experience with the unit.

The JBL MS8 is a joke compared to the ARC Audio PS8. But at that point the PDX 5 would be far below the quality of the PS8. What are you trying to accomplish as far as sound quality?

well i listened to a set of fostex th-900 headphones with a schiit audio dac/amp and it ruined me, i would like to get the best sq possible without going overboard. from what i understand the rainbows i have are some of the best sounding 6.5in components. Im just wondering what to do as far as a dsp/amp. preferably something that best buy sells, i would much prefer to use my discount, and im not looking to spend thousands. basically under $1000 for an amp and dsp, with the best sound possible using the speakers i have already.

these are the speakers i have

I'm not really sure what brands Best Buy even carries... what are their amplifier brands and I'll tell you what would be the best setup.

Well out of all of that crap, Alpine is the only one that is at least decent. Unless you can get the Pioneer Stage 4 stuff... which I doubt you can and you wouldn't even want to spend that much on amplifier anyway.

They do not... probably some day though. They are always adding sku's to their lineup. You would need to weld on a double o-ring port.

Just make some out of ABS and glue them from the backside... definitely not worth paying me to do it.

Just sent my z32 calipers out for powder coating. I saw you post on the powder coat color thread and wanted to know if you had a write up on zinc plating the hardware, or maybe just a materials list of what was used. Definitely wanna try this.

Broadfield (or anyone who has an answer really), there's a guy selling a strut/spring combo suspension and he says that everything is good "except one of the sleeves are cut". I'm new to the whole suspension side of town, so I have to ask.. what is a sleeve? What does he mean by "it's cut"? How can I fix it?

Thanks.

Just installed my 4 channel MB Quart Fx4.100 amp, and when I go to test the rear speakers which are connected to ch. 3 & 4, I immediately get cracking and static. This happens even when my head unit is off too.

Any suggestions?

Broad. are you familiar with the Pioneer shallow 10 inch subs? The reason I ask is because I went to check out the West Coast Customs shop located on Camp Pendleton. I meet the head install guy and he stated the pioneer subs sound better than the JL TW13. I say bullshit but I have no friends pushing the sub. Any personal pref. between the two?

I'm not an engine guru... there are plenty of guys on here that are much more qualified to answer that question.

I do not have a write-up. If you buy a zinc plating kit then it will have instructions with it. This is where I put my kit together from:

Plating Kits Electroplating Kits Aluminum Anodizing Kits Powder Coating Systems Metal Polishing And Buffing Supplies - Caswell Inc

I'm not sure if you figured this out yet or not, but have you tried the RCA's from channels 1&2 to see if you still have the noise? Have you tried putting the speakers from channels 1&2 on channels 3&4? If the noise goes away then you know it's something with the speakers or speaker wire. Have you simply tried a test speaker at the amplifier on channels 3&4?

I do not with the 10's, but I have done the 12's... and they do not compare to the JL's

Hey Toby. Just installed the 3303V alarm system into the 2tone. My hatch has the 5901 alarm. I attempted to try to pair the remote using the CAR2 feature but it was not able to do it successfully. The remotes look identical, but are they compatible with each other?

Looking to do a full system in my car. But it's not a 240 so nothing too cheap but don't need to go all out. I want one sub, two amps of course, and four speakers I need front component 6.5 and the rears are 6x9s. With my last system I had a problem not being loud enough and staying clear in higher volume settings; I don't want that this time around. It's all going to be ran by the stock double din touch screen in efforts to keep all the features. So also I think I'd need a amp for the sub with a bass knob to adjust bass better?

What can you sell me? Sorry for the super question. Car is a 2013 corolla. I'd like a sub that doesn't require a giant box. Looking to spend no more then 1500. The less the better so I can still have cash to get it installed, wires, fuses and so on

They are not the same remote... the 5901 is an LC3 SST remote which is the 1-mile range. The 3303V remote is a plain LC remote which has 2000 feet of range. You can make the 3303 the long range but you would need to buy the SST remote and SST antenna.

Copy and paste this into an email and send it to [email protected]... because I'm sure we are going to be back and forth on discussing product selections etc.

ignition switch or alarm brain possibly. the remote starter is placed in between the ignition switch and the starter relay. i would double check your violet/green connections on the heavy gauge high current wires coming out of the alarm brain.

is there a better option out there for the same price?

As tobasco stated, the OEM starter wire loops through the Viper. The heavy gauge green wire is the input and the heavy gauge violet is the output. If it remote starts every time and doesn't always start with the key then it could just be coincidence and it just hasn't acted up yet during remote start. Otherwise you could have one of the following:
  • Bad connection where you attached the green wire to the OEM starter wire.
  • Bad Viper brain... I have never seen this portion of the Viper brain be bad though... EVER. My shop installs 500 Viper remote start systems every year.
  • Bad ignition key cylinder.

You can easily diagnose this issue with a DMM as long as you can get the issue to occur while testing.

If it is just a coincidence that it hasn't acted up yet during remote start, then it could be an issue with absolutely anything in the ignition chain.

I guess I should of asked this first: when you say it doesn't allow you to start the car, that's a very loose description. Does it not crank at all, does it crank and not fire, does it make any noise at all when you turn the key to crank?

is there a better option out there for the same price?
$32 plus free shipping!?!?!?! Christ, I couldn't crap in a box and ship it to you for much less than $32.

But in all honesty, those are VERY bad speakers. Those would not really be an upgrade over your common OEM speaker. If you have no money then you gotta do what you gotta do I guess.

500 a year? That's awesome. I'm itching to install one, I haven't been able to sell one yet and I've been installing for a month.

Yeah, I have been installing them for 20 years... pretty much ever since they were invented. So needless to say I have installed a mind boggling amount in those 20 years.
