![]() Ok I finally got my five speed swap done(sort of, I need wiring help. Please look at tech talk, car wont start... after five speed swap... ) and put most of my interior back together.
Take a look at the skateboard wheel shift knob. I like it, its comfy, and I only spent $2-3 on it(if you have a wheel and bushing laying around). Let me know what you think. I will change the wheel when I get my car running and want to change the color. For now it stays. Pics: Pblesh85/Parts/knob 2 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Been done before on rat rods and what not.
But who the fuck wants a shift knob that spins? Shit, I hate life when my steering wheel is loose. Fuck having it spinning on purpose. Either way, that is fail imo.

You talk pretty tough on the internet though tough guy. ![]() ![]() Anyway - I just prefer a shift knob that's a bit taller than it is wider. It's easier to backhand it into 4th to make sure you don't shift into 2nd from the top of 3rd. See a Ferrari round knob to get an idea of the perfect diameter of a shift knob IMO. It's about 1.5" or so. |

Im not a big fan of the "mugen" shift knob style. The ones that look like little hot dogs <
![]() Besides, all the shift knobs I like are about $100 and up. Mine was free and I know that no one else has it or at least not many.

I'm not even a fan of the whole dildo knob thing that everybody loves around here, so it's no surprise this doesn't exactly do it for me. As for me, I just have a cheap aluminum knob I got off eBay and stripped the anodize off then alodined it. Nothing beats working with dangerous chemicals to complete your shift knob. |

not a bad idea. An idea I have been batting around it taking a door knob (whatever style you like, there are a cluster fuck of them out there), filling it with hot glue (or similar sort of plastic goo) and a properly threaded nut. Bam, instant shift know that looks pretty unique and fits your style (assuming you found a knob you liked)

people mentioned longboard wheels here, some of those have deep offsets so you wouldn't even have the nut scraping against your palm as you shift, plus they would feel better b/c they're gummier. it'd be sick if there was a low profile bearing though so that you could get the wheel on there w/ the bearing and have it spin while on the shifter. my bug has a skate wheel as a gas pedal and a heineken tap as a shifter, the wheel fits w/ the bearing so spins as you press on the gas.
