Hmmm... Really? I guess when you consider the HPFP issues, numerous reports of failing turbos (which are integrated to the goddamn manifolds) & excessive carbon build-up on the intake valves from the direct injection system, I can see where you're coming from. Sometimes its a good reminder to stop looking at the spec sheets & face reality. But I wonder if most of those N54 issues have been warrantied out/fixed and maybe they're overblown like the 350Z's oil consumption & synchro issues... Are the N54's REALLY that bad/worse or is there more I'm not seeing?

Yeah, and it just got a quick refresh already with a new emblem and front fascia. They are trying to keep it really current. I read the exact same thing (better then the 3 series except for the tranny). It's an intriguing car. They are actually making another RWD sedan even below the ATS which will be even cooler. They can capture a huge customer base if it's fast and looks as good as the rest of the line-up. It'll be a CLA/A3 competitor but RWD. Sold. Also, they whole line is getting a name change immediately. All we know right now is the new flagship (S-Class competitor) will be a CT6. I love when big changes happen like that.

^^^That's is great news. The CLA is about $33k. If the RWD Caddy competitior is priced the same, it'll likely be tangling with BMW's current 2 & 3 series... Eager for details here.

The whole moving to New York and changing all our model names has me worried about their future.

Ya I tend to wonder about that whole decision. It would have been possibly a brighter idea for them to move to SoCal. I mean New York? I think the. Only reason it happend is becuase the state of New York bent over backwards with economic incentives.
At least in SoCal there is a huge car Culture. One I might add that has Been snapping up Mercedes Benzs of late. They are selling the hell out of the entry level C Class here.

I like the NY move. The image of Wall Street fits Cadillac better than cruising the West coast.

The cocks on wall street won't buy Cadillac's and the rest of the county despises the big tycoon image. I don't see how this endears them as not a rich old fogy's car.

All I can see is that they are going for the metropolitan image.

I see it as a huge waste of money and coupled with another change of the model naming scheme leads me to believe they don't know what their doing/where they are going and are just shooting the moon.

Spoken for truth. Wall Street guys are not Cadillac people these days. Tesla,Benz,BMW,Lexus is more the norm IMO.

Not from any BMW guys I know.. even E30 guys E36/E46 guys claim the E92 to be the king...
engine feel/sound/ etc...
maybe the E46 is said to have a better firmer chassis and sportier feel....
but even auto purist groups, when prompted which M3 is the fav of all times, The majority say E92..
Not to start a big argument.. that's just what I hear and see being on multiple bmw forums and part of a huge auto purist group.

Hate to break it to you man but I am on several BMW forums as well. I also am around BMW racing shops and know quite a few full time BMW mechanics and no one champions the E92. Perhaps stripped to the bone in full race prep.

Otherwise it's considered to be an overweight, to many electronics terrible steering feel automobile. It's what's called a warranty car as in you own as long as it's under warranty and then drop it like a hot Potato when the warranty is up.
Most real BMW purists feel the E30 M3 was the machine and they respect the E36 and E46. Even the E46 is considered a warranty machine as well. The E36 is considered the last of the non overboard electronics cars.
In fact that's why so many people on the Bimmerforums talk about the 128i M and 135i M as being the real drivers cars like the E36 M3 and the E30 M3. Not E92's.

Seriously dude you own a E92 which leads your comments to a certain bias. While you could say I am biased as well, what I speak is fact. People like the engine. In the E92 but not so much the car. Not saying it's shitty but please it's not the Gods end.

Oh and by the way you should never have uttered not to start an argument . As it proves you knew you would.

I really don't care how the e90 series measures against older BMW's that I've never wanted to own. I'm more interested in how it compares to past jdm greats that I actually DO have interest in. Any thoughts on 335I vs Supra or 335xi vs STI/EVO/etc....

hey everyone has their opinion, talking to people at my local bmwcca meets and on bmw forums you hear quite the opposite.

E46s are great cars except for EWS III lol, took what the E36 had built upon in the 90s and added a whole extra level of refinement.

I hear quite the opposite 99% of the time, the same as drift freaq.

the few reasons why older BMW enthusiasts will give any mind to the E9x is because a. they like all things BMW, b. its hard to deny the comfort of driving a new model vs something from the 80s/90s, and c. theyre prob work for BMW lol

but with all the electronics (needing your battery synced just to change it) and eps its a pass for me personally, only model I would consider is the e82 128i because its the last 'heritage' proper car BMW produced.

um yes the BMW will do everything all the others can but it will do it w/ luxury, interest from women, and no more dudes hanging from your nuts b/c you have a supra/sti/evo

Ummm, yeah. That's the reason for the move. To change that. And I was in Manhattan in August and stayed at the Waldorf and I saw shitloads of new CTS's and piles of Escalades. I actually never saw a single Tesla. Just my observation though.

^yeah all of that
i feel like the e92 was one of worst m's created. personally i like the e46, 135i and m235i the most. i've driven an e30 with an s12 but it was stock. i work for a bmw dealer so i get to spend considerable amount of time in and around these cars. not a fan of the n54 because majority of the cars the come in are n54 related issues. personally im excited for the m2

m235i n55 same thing. m2 same thing, n55.

Hate to say it, but Nissan, Toyota, Subaru and Hyundai are gonna have a REAL hard time against the new 4 cyl turbo Mustang in both performance and value... period! The IDx and new Genesis are no where to be seen and the FRZ twins are gutless in comparison. Ford stepping it up!

mid 12s with MINOR mods made to the car... doesnt seem like weight is much of an issue here...

FRZ twins are high 14s with minor, bolt-ons pretty much dont do shit to them and turbos are out of the question with the current gen motor (who wants to push 3psi on a 12:5:1 motor?). the IDx is now in talks to be a 2.0L N/A shitbox (thumbs up Nissan) and the Genesis 4 cyl pretty much axed, the import world is in a world of crap again VS the new Ford 4 cyl turbo Mustang and the upcoming Camaro 4 cyl turbo

The new Mustang looks like a modern Sil80. Gross.
