Ive got a carbonetic 1.5way waiting to go into the car. However, Ive heard for track use the diff is too aggressive on lockup and will actually cause understeer. Anyone rocking one of these and have some feedback from track days?

Does no one have a VLSD that works?!?! I had VLSD a few years back an it was fucking great, then one day driving to work it blew a hole in my diff and commited suicide... The VLSD i have now fucking sucks... I think when its a full moon, the barametric pressure is right, around 65 degrees out and if it feels like it, it will lock em up.

Still rocking the OEM unlimited-slip diff. I was thinking about just welding mine, but I'm not sure. I'd rather get a 1.5 but with the cost, that wont happen any time soon.

I'm curious to hear what this sounds like
mines set at a aggressive lock, so going slow on hard turns will make a thunk thunk sound its not a constant chattering noise from a welded diff, and its not extremely loud as other brands. It "shakes" the rear end too... i was told that using motul or nismo's own oil will make it less clunky. i do drive it daily too, staying on throttle while turning will eliminate that thunk sound or clutching it will too. shit grips the road i love it!

^^^^Agree. I have a Kaaz 2-way as well. Locks really nice but it does get kind of annoying. But I love it. Got it for stupid cheap, Almost free. Installed it my self. Took me about an hour in a friends alley way. Used the Kaaz LSD oil. Mine is prob really noisy because i have the aluniminum subframe bushings. I love when people get in my car for the first time. Their facial expressions are priceless.

I put Royal Purple 70w-140 weight gear oil in my diff and it never made a peep. Clunked but made no chatter whatsoever.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but by definition a VLSD does NOT have clutch packs, right?

Oh, and I currently have an open, just bought the car and the seller didn't know So when the car was jacked up for tire replacement I spun the rear and found out it was open. I'm looking for a VLSD or 1.5 way in SoCal.

Going back up top... Dropping in a welded diff tomorrow. My buddy scored a Viscous for cheap, so he installed it and welded his original one and we're throwing it on my S13 tomorrow. We'll see how it is, but I'll still have my open one to throw back on if it gets to be too much.

A Quaife never locks, they are torque biasing differentials like S15 HLSD's. In a drift t'll constantly try to transfer power back and forth to the tire with more grip but it does not have the capability to "lock". That's why they're great for the street, because they're completely transparent where a welded or overly aggressive clutch diff will produce understeer unless you power out of it into oversteer.\

I had an ATS Deftforce and when the drift events dried up in my area I got sick of the way it made the car feel so I bought an old vlsd and now just drive the shit out of my car on the street. I can still slide a bit on the rare occasions that I both want to and can get away with it so i'm happy enough with that.

Iv Had VLSD, Welded, 1.5Way and a 2Way. I can say that the Welded worked the best on my KA, but when i did my power upgrades in my other KA the 2way Worked sooo much better overall, Drifting, AUto-x, and some spirited driving. Driving in the Rain with Welded at 80MPH in CA isnt soo bad as long as you have good tires.
