Sigh** sad to say but my lil zenki came from proto I bought it from a guy who got it there BUT i think its prob one of the few lucky 240s frame is solid great crappy front bumper a/c lights all worked but the Ka had a butt load of missing sensor's slowly she's a normal 240sx once again

Yeah i had a friend that got some work done on her car. they took her brake calipers and sold them after they upgraded her calipers. She was pissed off because she wanted to keep them. They said they lost them. bullshit

On track with Proto. Went to see a few of their cars since a homie wanted a 240. When we got there, we were checking out the cars. One of their buddies comes up to us talking about how the car just got the kit put on and painted. And how it runs awesome and what not. We check the engine bay and its like hell went lose on it.

96 zenki with KA. 160+ miles, dirty engine bay. And he said 8k and said it was a steal and cars like that one could go for 9k easily.

We just walked away after that.

I use to go to Proto Back in the Days-
Im Talking 2004-2007
because they were Close to My House I use
to Hang Out There, I even Went to James (Owner)House.
I Knew Mike(Sales) and Eric (Mechanic).

Those I mentioned were the Only Guys I Vouch for,
Back then they had Dealer Licence and would go
to the Auto Auctions and Get 240s/Imports from there
add some Cheap Wheels and a Kit and Sell for a Profit.
Then also they were Connected though Japanese Importers
and they were getting Decent Motors/Shells/Clips of RHDs/
FULL Sick RHDs that were Imported as Parts Cars-
Some Cars Sold were Grey Market Cars but they Still Sold
as Parts Car, It was Fully up to the Owner/Buyers Responsibility.

Never did Proto Steal Cars or was It a Chop Shop.
They got there Cars from the Auctions Down the Street
on Central ave, or Imported them.

Sure Proto was Hooking Up the Smog for Us Track Guys that
wanted to Drive a SR on the Street, They Hooked me Up and Countless
Others Out There. There Are O.G. Guys Here on Zilivia that
Bought there "Frame" from Proto and Did there Own Mods from There.
Proto Probally Lost there Licence from Hooking Everybody
Up with the Smog and Taking Everyone through the DMV
Process with there RHDs.

Name another Shop in the I.E. that was Doing this back in 2005.
Name another Shop Today that would Risk there Business Licence
to Make It Possible to Daily Drive a RHD in So.Cal.

NOW Its 2010 Im Unsure of Where they are Now.
But I know they are Doing Better than Before being
That The NAME Proto Changed Hands through Owners
Several Times Through the Years So Some/Many had Bad Experances
Due to the Quality of Service Going Down Hill...

Proto Motoring is Not Gone.
They have 2 Shops-
a Detail Shop in Riverside off of Arlington ave,
and a Performance Shop in San Bernardino where the 215 and
the 91 meet.

Why am I Still Posting ?

Because Proto Helped me Bring my Junk Yard Status
240sx Back to Life, In that time of them Helping me
Restore the Car I build a Relationship with the People
who work there ... Does that make me a FanBoy ?

Im guilty of almost buyin a car from their years ago, but I knew what to look for in those cars. So I decided to not buy. Then again I wasnt down with payin $13k for a s13 coupe with just a front end and some rotas, still KA mind you.

I kinda have to agree with you HyperTek, But also as a seller you shouldnt lie to your customers and say its a red apple when its a green apple. At least thats how I would do business not lie and tell the person that buys the car all the problems major or small. **Sorry for bumping an old thread. . .I just don't get on here much anymore.

That was a really fun day at the track. Sadly a month later our s13 threw a rod and sits in pieces in my garage lol.

To contribute to this thread, I know Mike aka "Fingers" for years and he's a pretty good guy. I haven't seen James or Arnold in years (and they've been good to me) so I can't comment on how their workmanship has progressed or digressed since. To everyone, please do your research when trying to pick up an old S-Chasis so you can spot the shady work from actual quality craftsmanship. With the economy in the shiter people/shops are going to be out there in full force to "make" their money, which regrettably, will bring down the integrity of our industry even more.

ClutchOne have we met? Nice pics of our car and brothers. lol.
