As an American with Irish citizenship as far as Ireland is concerned, I find it a little offensive when someone asks me how much guinness I can drink. Whats even worse is that I can down 5 or 6 bottles guinness because its delicious lol. Too bad its so damn thick and filling. I don't get my panties all in a bunch when someone makes a leprechaun joke or a "O'insertnamehere" joke. I think most people with half a brain realize tools like the Italian-Americans on that show are the minority, and most italian americans are upstanding decent people... like most Irish americans.

And to clear up any questions: I do drink, I am a lightweight, and I don't speak Gaelic lol.

I've always thought the 'such & such' culture was just reflective of a type of Jersey youth thats been around for generations.

Then again, is really such a terrible group per say?
It's not like the kids are out to hurt ppl.
They act & look silly (who doesn't?), but it's relatively harmless.
Likewise, ppl who watch this aren't likely to react with hostility against the given group.

Of course, it's not fair for anyone of us to presume that anything that isn't offensive to us,
won't be to others (however minor we might consider).
opinions about something like this are just going to be controversial and varied.

Idk.. I think this show is purely made/on the air for its entertainment value and nothing more. You wanna learn something..?? Put it on the NatGeo channel or something. People have been using that term ("G****s") for a while now and the kids that proudly call themselves "G****s" have been doing it for quite a while as well.

I really dont see the big deal of the "g***o" term. I'm hispanic so if there was a show where a bunch of hispanic kids go to Rosarito or something and partied it up there all while calling themselves "lazy","b****rs","w*****ks" etc. or worse. I cant really see myself caring.. And its not because I dont care about my culture or anything like that. Its more because thats someone elses way of representing/identifing with their own culture.

I guess I just kinda see it on more of a "live and let live" point of view.

I know this is off-topic, but I just saw the commercial for Real World: D.C. Looks like yet another MTV show I will have to check out. I heard some people spotting them at a club, just didn't know the show would be out so soon. Look forward to seeing what spots they go to since I'm local to D.C.
