Sorry, that didn't come out right. I meant that was a really good price from a shop. the "lol" part of it was I thought it was expensive when he first posted, which explains why he was happy about it.

$200 for the tubs to be welded in is crazy cheap. I don't know how well they're actually done, but I know I sure as hell wouldn't do it again for only $200.

I would agree here. The time taken to just weld is probably worth two bills. Factoring in 'fab time' is worth a hell of a lot more than that IMO.

If I had used a weld-through primer then I wouldn't have worried about a seam sealer. I guess it all depends on how good the welds look and/or if you're trying to go for a show car look. Also location, elements, and what kind of paint you used would also play role as to whether or not it's "needed".

I used a water resistant caulking.
I figure, the more residue it could keep out in any circumstance the better chance I have of it not letting any water under it. That and the caulking is a little more flexible if needed.

I think he is talking about the aft side of the stock wheel well, behind the strut tower.
Not many people have problems with it so nobody tubs that part. I think if you run anything close to stock caster or greater you will be fine.

im ganna do mine soon and this thread is awesome tnx all.
i do have a few tips that most for all you cool people know but for those that dont: 1. bead rolling the middle of the tub makes it stronger ie: 2. less sharp cuts = stronger tub ie: 3. making the flat engine bay plate angled = stronger tub ie: this was my 2c. hope it helps for people that cant decide on how to fabricate. |
