Exhaust question

Ok so i orderded new exhaust and it arrived yesterday. My old cat was all fucked up ratled like shit so i orderd a new header n resonator. Well i got a "racing" header so the EGR valve won't fit in there. Plus i thought the resonator was a replacement for my old cat....I'm a noob i know.... So i put on my Hi-power and now i'm stuck with a Header....then my cat back..... The resonator doesn't fit to the header. So now i need to know what parts i need to buy that connect the header to the exhaust. I was thinkin maybe i need a downpipe that goes into my resonator which goes into my header? Is this right? Plus what happens if i drive around with a disconnected EGR valve thingy....Funny shit driving around with an open header and a FAT can on my car. I was gettin the dirtiest looks HAHAHHA you shoulda seen it. Thanks for the help guys

Your post is a little hard to read. You have an aftermarket header, with no EGR port. Don't worry about that. You also have an aftermarket exhaust. Your problem is that the resonator you bought to replace the factory cat doesn't fit right? Just take it to an exhaust shop and have them put in a section of pipe there. That shouldn't cost more than $20-40.

Test pipe.
Downpipe is terminology typically reserved for turbo cars. That being the section of pipe that connects to the turbo and goes to the cat or exhaust.

Edit: What engine do you have?

speedmonkey is right, you need a test pipe, or another cat. also, that rattle you were getting from the cat might be the heat shields, so check the condition of your old cat and if its good just put it back in.

thats the exact one i got now if you notice the gasket one has a three bolt pattern i need to connect something to that, that will go down to my catback
exhaust.

Can't you unbolt your stock manifold into two pieces? It looks like that is where those headers are supposed to bolt up to. Leave the lower pipe that comes out from under the heatshield. That pipe is often refered to a B-pipe or a mid-pipe. If that doesn't work send them back and buy a set OBX headers that will solve all your problems.

Send a message via AIM to OMGWTFBBQ
there should be a 2nd peice btwn that and the secondary cat
does the bottom section of the stock header (what your missing I think) not bolt up to what you have?
thats my guess, cause that way you would still have the main cat

Ok so I'm going to leave the stock manifold on. Now if i got a replacemet cat and attached it to my manifold. Would it reach back to my catback exhaust? Is the cat tubing where the 2nd 02 sensor goes??
