I'm considering purchasing a badly hurt 89 240, but before I make another bad investment I thought I'd do a lil research. Hopefully all the knowledgeable minds here can help me out. The car has essentially lost her nose in a TA and needs a new front bumper, hood, radiator, crossmember, etc. but the frame and the rest of the body are straight. I figure since I have to replace the hood and bumper anyway, I might as well consider some aftermarket goods. The engine is supposedly in great condition, won't find out mileage til tomorrow, but I may end up scraping it in favor of something else. I now ask anyone here who can help me: where should I go to find parts for the rebuild and what do I need to look into as far as an engine swap goes. I'm assuming I'll need the usual new ecu and harness as is true with any engine swap, but I'm not too familiar with Nissans so what else do I need to know? Thank you very much for all your help. Hopefully I'll be able to come back here as an owner.

Hey, and welcome to Zilvia.net

For engine swaps check out http://www.unstable-hybrids.com and http://www.srswap.com
Most of the time when you purchase a new engine it comes with the ecu and tranny and everything.

as for the front bumper, http://www.autoimaging.com is the only place I can think of right off the top of my head that sells aftermarket s13(89-94 240sx) fronts. There are lots of others though.

Try our links section to search for all sorts of 240 parts...

how much is the 89? how much are you willing to invest? have you looked around? if you are going to be just building an engine up i heard that you should get a 91+

'89-90 Engine Code: KA24E
2.4L SOHC 140hp

'91+ Engine Code: KA24DE
2.4L DOHC 155hp/160lb.ft.

i have a 90 and will be getting a 93 i found it for about 1200... its body needs 2 dents pulled but nothing major

Thanks for the help. I'm actually still tryin to negotiate a price for the car, but it won't be any more than 3 bills. I just need to find out how much to rebuild the front end. If I get a new engine I won't be building it up... yet. I'm getting this car to be my new daily driver, but knowing me it won't be long before the mods start. The engine should be fine for now, but I was considering dropping in an SR20DE (no T for Me). I took a look at her today and decided she must be mine... but I still have to think about cost. She's gonna need a new radiator, too. Anyone have any more places to check out? Also, since I have to replace the headlights, does anyone make the non-popup lights for the AM S13?

Personally, I wouldn't pay over 1,500 dollars for a messed up 89. You can find much better deals.

Yeah so I totally want those non-pop up lights but this is what I got once I looked in to getting some...

The Eastbear light kit are sold out.
From now on we'll be doing special order only.
The cost is $600 shipped in the USA and it'll take 4 weeks to order.

That decided that! No thanks not now at least I first have to mod the engine before I can consider wasting $600 on light mods
