Most used tools to keep in a s13 with sr engine

Okay guys what do you think are the most used tools, and that would be a good idea to keep in your dd s13 sr at all times?

In my DDS13 I carry the usual shit in a small tool box.Shit to change my wheels just in case :x
Do you feel the need to carry tools with you because of something messing up?

basic sockets and combination wrenches, screw drivers, phillips and flat (good for prying), jack, lug nut wrench, and that should do it.

I dont quite understand why your so worried about a sr,as long as it not heavily modified,Its not a out right racing engine.Sr's came in stock daily driven cars. Unless yours wasnt installed right and you dont do basic/routine manit., then everything should be ok...

dont forget a pair of needle nose pliers and a wire cutter. i use those the most along with zip ties, electrical tape and a 10mm, 14mm wrenches and flat and phillips screwdrivers. i have had a lug wrench and jack and spare in my car for 4 years and never used them....unless i was at home or at a shop doing work to my car...all the other stuff i have used all the time.

i dont cary any tools in my car! i know that its not gonna screw up and if it does ...... well my parents are part of a road side assistance group so all i do is call that company and i get a free tow truck!

i got a nice little tool box from sears that fits perfect behind my seat. but if you want to downsize i'd recommend, 10mm,12mm,14mm and wrench of course. screwdrivers and maybe an allen wrench or two for removal of spark plug cover if your running one.

What i meant was; what tool do you carry in the tool box. What are the common tools needed when broken down on the road?
I am going to buy some tools to carry around in my car at all times for this reason, shit happends and i want to be able to fix my car is something where to go wrong. hope this makes more sence

Get a job 4.5 miles from home and roadside assistance, you NEVER need to carry tools.
If you can't limp home, you NEED that tow.

the reason i carry around tools is cause i've had my SR break for the dumbest reasons and didn't have tools so now i always carry the basic's with me. also im on an island so if you break down theres usually no reception and in the middle of nowhere. i waited on the side of the road for over 6 hours for a damn tow truck.

well, I always carry tools. I don't think AAA is going to come all the way out here and give me a tow. Towing is helaciously expensive out here. A friend once broke his FLCA and it cost him $500 to tow it back to base. It's only about 45 kilometers without city traffic either. So I always carry a basic set of 8,10,12,13,14,17,19,21mm sockets/combo wrenches.
Aluminum pipe for breaker bar
electrical/duct tape
small ball peen hammer
assorted pliers
RTV
tire plug/patch kit
assorted fuses (large and small) and relays
assorted screwdrivers
couple of rags
small spool of 12 gauge wire
extra brake fluid
assorted clamps
couple extra lugnuts/studs
and lastly jumper cables.
I could say that I've used each of these items at least once while out and about either on my own ride or helping a friend. To me, there's no bigger bummer than to go to touge, have a friend break down and have it all end your night just to tow his ass home. At least if you fix it temporarily, you can still enjoy the rest of the night and limp the broke car home. I don't mind the weight, just put the box and bag behind the passengers seat. Low and centered, not that big of a deal. Almost forgot, if you drive a lot at night, don't forget a really good flashlight and if it rains alot where you are, bring a blanket (the movers type) so you don't get soaked on the ground or mess up your new jeans.

i don't understand this thread. the sr20 isn't anything special or unique. it's just a motor in a car like any other car. any tools is fine as long as it gets the job done. how does daily driving make things different? You do know that sr20 are stock in silvia in japan and tons of people daily drive them there. there's no different in the states. You make it sound like a tool is needed to adjust stuff everyday. If so, then you have bigger problems.

edit: just saw your reply to the other guy. Well when your car brakes down, it really depends what is wrong. We all know the common tools that imports use. 10-14 mm for small bolts, 16-19 for most larger bolts and suspension stuff. Just buy a metric tool set from craftsman and you'll be find. 1/4 drive sockets, 3/4 drive sockets, few n-wrenches, creset wrench, plyers, channel locks.

My car has only broke down twice, once for a clutch problem. no way to fix it on the side of the road, drove home in first gear lol. 2nd was when the slave cylinder broke. call dad, went home and got tools, also picked up my backup "slave cylinder" and swap it all in.

duct tape and zip tie fixes most problems tho. a couplin once and duct tape save me.

When something goes wrong, I'll call up friends and they help me out.

Best bet is to keep a KA in the back, full of fluids. Swap it in when the SR dies.

I keep a jack in the car and my coil-over wrenchs. Last time I needed a tow the guy said he couldn't because it was to low and might damage the bumper/and or fmic. Turned out it was just a blown belt anyway so my friend brought some tools, and flashlights it was dark out, and we picked up a belt from autozone.

As far as socket sizes go the most used are like 12mm, 14mm, 16mm, 18mm etc.

Also, I'm not sure if it was mentioned, but WD40 and a Torch come in handy alot on suspension parts.

I have a small socket set, that I keep under the passenger seat. The jack and tire iron are always in the trunk. Zipties and eletrical tape are in the driver's side door pocket. I often carry a small tool box in the trunk that's full of spare screws, nuts and bolts, hose clamps, etc.

When I take longs trips, this stuff is always in the car. On my way back from florida yesterday, I snapped a hose clamp and blew my hot pipe off. Also the window wiper motor bolts all fell out so I had to find some new ones in my tool box. lol

I mean, my car is 17 years-old. Stuff breaks when cars get old.
