bottom line on 300zx e-brakes?

is this how most people do it? i was told that doing it this way can cause the e-brake to be engaged when the car is jacked up. can anyone confirm or deny this?

well, what i had in mind as far as cable clamps are not what's in that picture. i searched for a pic of them to post to see if they would be better but i couldn't find a pic. the clamps i was wanting to use are kinda the same concept of some battery terminals where i would put both cables in and tighten 2 bolts on either side of the cables. those the ones you are talking about? (sorry if that's a bad description)

Does anyone know if the e-brake cables from a UK spec s13 would work with the z32 brakes since they also have the disc/drum brake setup.

yeah I would be worried that the cable would slip. The bolts could come loose slowly and your screwed.

I dunno, the lines I have will not fit an S13, they are definatly too short. I think they are off of a 2+2, though I am not sure. it seriously bums me out that they don't fit though....

Mine fit, from a 2+2. Are they too long or too short?

Ok I think I have the answer for the S13 guys.
This was done on a 91 240SX hatchback.

I tried both the regular Z32 cables, and the 2+2 cables.

First attempt was the standard Z32 cables, these cable DO reach. They just have to be rerouted through the subframe, some costom brackets need to be made, and the handle needs to be loosened almost all the way. This setup worked fine, and the handle felt very close to the feel of the original setup.

But I am a perfectionist and I had to try all the options untill I am satified. The 2+2 cable is next. This cable is longer than the standard z32 cable, its about the same length as the stock 240SX cable. I am still fine tuning this setup so I'm not fully complete. But this setup requires alot of adjustment at the handle. You have to take up alot, and I mean alot, of slack. I routed this cable the same as the standard z32, and made custom brackets for it as well.

Right now I have the 2+2 cables on the car, after the further fine tuning, I will make my decision on which cable to run permantely, but right now I like the regular z32 cable better.

Here are some comparsion pics, and rerouting pics:

Top to bottom: 240SX cable/ Regular 300ZX cable/ 300ZX 2+2 cable

Left to right:240SX cable/ Regular 300ZX cable/ 300ZX 2+2 cable

regular 300ZX cable top, and 300ZX 2+2 cable bottom

regular 300ZX cable top, and 300ZX 2+2 cable bottom

240SX cable top, and 300ZX 2+2 cable on bottom

Rerouting:
These are of the regular 300ZX cable....2+2 pics coming soon....

E-brake cable passed through the oval shaped hole in the subframe (how it comes on the Z32's)

Cable passed over the exhaust, and bracket used to hold it away from the driveshaft.

The next pics are of the routing, and the custom bracket I made.

Any question, let me know, I will do my best to answer them. If you need more pics, I will try to get those for you also. I'm still working on the 2+2 setup, so when I finish I will let you guys know how that goes compared to the standard Z32.

Hope this helps......

I did the same for my 2+2 lines. But I used the bracket that you used to keep it from the exhaust, in the location that you made a custom bracket. I did adjust the handle as tight as it would go, and the brakes lock up very nicely. I only have to pull up 4 -5 clicks and it locks up all the way. BTW my 2+2 lines look more like your regular z32 lines (concerning the bracket up top near where it mounts to the handle).

Wow, $300? Who gave you that quote? I bought mine from Performance Nissan for $110 and some change. Oh yeah, I got great service from them too, they got good people working there.

rlca means rear lower control arm right? if it is its an ikeya formula, got it when i was in japan. it was 700 somthing. i got it 2 years ago, so might be cheaper? its adjustable, so the angle of camber can be adjusted any way you want while extending the tire out a little further.
