![]() I should have posted this a long time ago, but whatever. I figure I would post this here since quite a bit of people frequent this section. I have a friend in the body kit building business and currently prototyped a set of carbon fiber headlamp covers for my car. They look pretty good. They only need a bit of work on the fitment, but on the car they look pretty good. I just wanted to see who would be interested in possibly getting a group buy going to give the guy some incentive to keep working on them and possibly mass producing them. He is also working on a CF hatch for S13s. If anyone is interested lemme know and I'll pass the word on to him. I'll post pictures of the headlamp covers once I clean them up.

What kind of finish is he using? Is it full CF or CF over fiberglass?

Sorry about ot getting pictures up today. I had work and that took the whole day. The covers are CF backed with fiberglass. His work is top notch though. He made an frp replica of a Buddy Club Mk1 MR2 lip and twisted it 180 degrees. Insane.

Pictures uploaded. PM me if you want hi-res pictures. Please not these are the prototypes. They were the first set he has made. His next sets will be better with the buffing and fitment wise.
Excuse the dirty car. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Pretty cool, a set to me isnt worth it.
IMHO it wont generate a lot of money. It light, but compare that to the thin metal to the stocker.. it doesnt a lot of weight. Maybe if he adds a little vent or something it will have some function, other than that it is just a pretty peice. |

The vent in the headlamp cover is useless because if you look right behind your headlamp assembly, there's a piece of metal, lol. We talked it over and came to the conclusion it's be best and easiest to make it non vented. I know it doesnt reduce much weight, but it's mostly for looks and for matching with a CF hood. I'll get in contact with him soon to figure out how many more he can make after perfecting the mold. Like I said, those were his first set, the prototypes, so his next sets will be a whole lot better.

wow..180 for no name home made carbon fiber? i was thinking it should be closer to 99. the fitment and cutting is off and you have too much resin around the edges.. if you vaccum infused the resin you should have a much better product.

Those look quite nice...but what you should REALLY be looking at making is sunroof replacement panels...because I would then be interested. I know someone makes them for the S14, but not the S13. And it has some sort of magnet mechanism to hold it in place. Actually, if someone happens to know off by hand which company makes them, could you please let me know? If not, then I will just have to start searching the forum, because I think it was posted on Zilvia sometime back.
