Battery Problem?

Hey Ive been goin through some problems with my battery for the sr. Before it was a corroded battery cable but I replaced that and Im having the same trouble. The starter clicks and I did try it about five or six times but the dome light and my electric fans which are wired to come on even when the key is only 3/4 of the way turned doesnt come on. The gauge cluster clock light comes on but no numbers. It is the same problem as before but I checked everything except for fuses. I tried jumping so it cant be the alternator I dont think. Just let me know what to check.

Thanks guys

Battery needs a good charge (or replacement) and replace your terminals.

Start with the basics.

If that doesn't work, it could be a ground problem.

i had the same problem , u gotta wiggle both negative and positive cables at the same time trust me it sounds weird but it works , does your headlight turn on??? , the thing is u prolly still have some corrosion between the battery and cables so u might want to sand it alittle

hahaha i know exactly what you mean but the corrosion was only in the negative cable i believe and i replaced that. I cleaned off the terminals recently and tightened them down pretty well and its also a pretty new battery (about a month old). I used to jiggle them to get it to work too. The things that work that are electronic are safc, headlights and light behind gauge cluster clock. Im deffinatley going trunk mount with a complete new system if I keep on having trouble and it is the battery. Its also a lawmower battery but has around 425cca I believe. Any idea if it could be fuses?

hell why not check the fuses just to make sure its not one of them, but it does sound like a grounding problem

Considering you said you jumped it and it didnt work, it rules out the battery. I had a similar problem on my 240 and that was just a busted connecter to the starter. However i didnt have a problem with these interior lights turning on and off. As mentioned above....check your fuses. Also you might wanna check your ignition and related grounds. If the lights arent turning on in the ON position it could be crappy grounding to the ignition switch.

ok so i looked at it again and had a mechanic look at it and said it was the starter. However, with the previous problems with the battery connection it has the same symptoms. So should I try and find a starter? Or does he not know what hes talking about and its just a bad ground or connection. Just trying to rule things out to not waste money.

Thanks

yea.. if it just makes that fast high pitched noise, its the solenoid NOT firing out, however spinning.. try hitting it with a hammer a few times, sometimes this unfreezes it. otherwise replace the bitch! cost of somewhere around 110 if u give them the old one.i spent 3 days chasing down gremlins on my s13.. turned out my starter was fine lmao, still spent $300 trying to fix shit.. high pitched spinny noise = not firing solenoid. tap it with hammer. loud click = firing solenoid but not enough voltage to spin.

i did try the hammer trick. Also before this it would make the noise and clicking sound but that was when the batt cable was fucked. You deffinately think its the starter? Also if it is where can I get an sr one for around 110 like you said.
