Yeah, I saw that thread and it doesn't help me even a little. The flange where the outlet pipe and down pipe meet hits the knuckle on the steering shaft. I have a picture of it on my cardomain site.
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2440578 I did search for one week using every combo of words that I could think of. Please don't be so quick to judge. Thanks |

That is prolly what I will end up doing. I was obviously joking JeffMilano about the motor mount issue but I was serious about the flanges meeting above, below or right at the steering shaft. It doesn't matter now though, because I already have the stock pipe and an aftermarket one so I will just take the turbo outlet pipe and the downpipe to a shop and have them connect the two so it works. I only posted this originally because I couldn't find anyone else who had this problem and I thought it may have been easily avoided with the right pipe. I guess not. Thanks for the replies that were not belittling to me. Jimmy

Weird... was it an SSAC elbow? Kind of looks like my Megan elbow, but mine clears. If your motor mounts are good, the flange should go below and inside of the steering shaft just enough to clear.
The Megan works and is cheap, the more expensive ones (Greddy, HKS, Tomei) will mostly clear, but you have to make sure they're LHD compatible first. You can pick up a new one, or chop it/angle it/weld it like icecreamdan said.

Always make sure you use new engine mounts when doing the swap. It could be the old mounts sagging.
My Megan gets really close to the steering, but it clears just fine. What turbo and manifold are you using? |

I have stock manifold and turbo. The flange is right at the same spot as the steering shaft. Should the joint be above or below the shaft? I think below which would mean the mounts aren't sagging enough.

The flange should be below the rack. You need to buy new motor and tranny mounts or you're going to run into the same problem.
