Angry Pilot bearing split!

Ok to start we are changing the clutch/T.O./pilot bearing in a 89 240sx...we started by getting a pilot bearing remover from harbor freight which turned out to be just a tad to large..so scrapped that idea , then heard about packing it with grease and lightly hammering dowel in the middle of the pilot bearing to create a kind of hydralic action to force the pilot bearing out...well we did this but the pos pilot bearing split into a few pieces leaving a smaller but still circuler bearing inside...we have removed some of the pieces but cannot seem to get out the larger piece...wondering if some of the pro's might have any advice...

Thank you very much

( sorry about the spelling the fumes have really got to me today )
