odometer roll back

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

so im not a theif or a trying to rip any1 off but my tach on my base cluster was damaged so i bought an se cluster and swapped it perfect.

except my car had 101k miles and the one i bought has 155k miles so if i do decide to sell my car i would like it to say the correct mileage therefore my dilema..

How can i either roll the new one back
or swap the two odometer assemblies?
The first is preferred since I took a look at it and i might have broken the needle on my original !!

if you dont want to help cause you think im trying to rip someone off ill post pics of both clusters....THKNs

Depends on which car your talking about.

On S13s you can swap just the odometer section from tach to tach.
On the S14s you can't pull them apart, it's all one unit. You can just go to the dealer and order one and give them your mileage and they'll have it set to that when you get it.

And you can't roll them back, they have a saftey locking device once it goes too far it stops. (had an extra one and played around with it)

Send a message via AIM to irax
you can say the car has 155k unoriginal miles and 101k original miles.

Everybody listen up. You only have one shot at this. Otherwise, your CarFax will have an odometer discreancy indicator for life. A lot of you don't know this.

The legal way to swap out the speedometer without setting the new odometer is by putting a clear label on the driver door jamb. On the label, you need to disclose the following information:

* date of swap
* mileage of old odometer
* mileage of new odomoter

I also suggest you put a statement to tell them how much to add/subtract to get the actual mileage.

Once you've done this, instruct everybody who may take your mileage to check the door jamb. You may also want to put a note next to the odomoter display itself to check the door jamb.

Negligent technicians may record the wrong mileage, and with CarFax scouring so many databases nowadays you'll never know if your VIN will be flagged.
