s14 HVAC Question...fuse poppin'

Hi Guys,

I have a 95 S14 and my HVAC blower stopped working. So I check the fuse to start with, and sure enough it is blown. No problem, I replace it. The fan was in the off position when I put the new fuse in and nothing happened. I proceed to turn the blower control to 1, and the fuse immediately pops.

I have not started any diag, and I don't have a multi-meter nearby (it's at my friends house). I was hoping one/some of you may have had the same concern or perhaps this is common??? If you guys have any suggestions I would appreciate it!!!

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer...
Matt.

Unplug the blower motor and try it again. If it still blows, plug the motor back in and unplug the blower resistor. That will at least narrow it down between those two parts. The switch itself rarely has issues so I'd suspect one of the other two.
Let me know which one it is, I have both locally.

Okay.

Thanks for the advice. I will get some fuses today and try it out this weekend.

Thanks again,
Matt.

Question

Now the fuse doesn't pop at all.

I disconnected the blower motor and turned on the switch but nothing happened. So I connected it again and still nothing happened. After about a minute teh wires to the blower motor were getting hot, but nothing was working and the fuse didn't pop at all.

What do you think???

Drop the blower motor, it's four screws on the bottom of the case. You'll need to move the ECU out of the way. Take the hamster cage off and inspect the blower for corrosion, damage, binding, or anything abnormal.
