how much should i be looking at
let say i bought a knock off bumper (from VIS), condition is not really good comparing to those brand name.
if i take it to a shop and they intall for me with: - PPG paint - a very decent paint job on the bumper only and last very long - match my car's original color (burgandy with metallic) - smooth out all the edges that was not perfect since its a knock off bumper to make it simple they are going to make this knock off as good as real brand name bumper how much you guys think i should be paying thx for reading

That's kind of a broad question considering, I think the price will be high no matter were you go. But factor in the reputation of the shop your going to and location. No matter what expect to pay a lot.

random number
600 bucks paint and prep is where the money is at ppg isnt cheap paint and to match your 'custom' color then the install hours it takes 600-900 would be a safe guess or u could go to the paint shop and ask how much to get it installed and painted. then asking people online. dont be scared. nothing wrong with asking shops for quotes. |

^^^ Yeah, I'm with DJ_Sunrise on this one... why not take it to the person that painted the rest of the car? That way, you have a better chance of it coming out the same.
From my experience with painting sportbikes, I'd say to take a bumper to a paint shop and have them put in an hour or so smoothing it, then spray it with the best paint, then install it, would be ~ $600... definitely not cheaper than $500. The paint alone is about $300 (primer, 1pt base, 1pt metallic/color, 1pt clear), and with a job like that it's safe to match the paint cost for labor. I'm guessing you went to a reputable shop and they quoted you a grand.

don't buy a knock off your better of spending the money and having it done rigtht
if you don't the only one who's going to regret it is you a good job probably around 500 Remember if you primer it your self the cost will reduce and don't have it on your car , shops charge to cover sides where you don't want paint in .

^^^ remember not all 240sx people are baller otherwise everyone would be rocking authentic vertex or bn sports kit. don't knock on people who want to spend on knockoff body kits if it's all they can afford.

do you consider Origin to be a knock off? Cause I was looking at kits from ED and VIS and the prices were roughly the same (for ED and Origin anyway, forgot what VIS was priced.)

thx all for the inputs, now i know what to do next. the shop charge me for 800 and i bargain it to 700 (by knowing them for so long), however i need to replace my innerfender (the black "cover" on top of the wheel that prevent sand/rocks hitting the suspension, yea yea im sux in terminology, spelling as well) that gonna cost another 150 with labor.
farewell to my tax return ![]() and my next paycheck...... oh shit, and i need to buy a set of signal light! gaaaah !!!!!! ^*%^**$&^&#@$%)@

damn that's a lot of money to fix and respray your bumper. I was hope that it'll be less for you, but if I know auto body shops will, they do charge for a pretty penny.

ARE you serious? $150 including labor? (WHAT LABOR?!) for installing a FENDERLINER? You cannot be serious. keep in mind though, thats just a quote.. i think they can change that as well, until you have it on paper. |

I would probally opt for not putting the fenderliner in, Chances are your going to rip it out later if you lower the car OR try to find someone that might still have theirs or go to a junkyard and pull them off another car. They really are not that expensive used

^^^^ true that. Majority of the people on here don't run them. I don't because the shit would be scraping against my tires all day everyday. Save the $150 and just rip the suckas out. Then go to the titty bar and spend the $150. Take pics and post em'. Have fun.

if youre running coilovers and still have fender liners, then youre not low enough. rip them things out and save the money. the worst thats going to happen is that some dirt will get in the threads of your coilovers which can be a pain in the ass, but it wont ruin anything.

in general, labor costs more than anything. take in consideration, you are pickin' up a kit by VIS which usually fits like crap. from a reputable shop expect to pay 1100, 700 is a steal...
