are these engines the same

first off, im new here and thus far i am impressed. I have searched my regular forums and cannot get the answer for this. I have a 89 240sx, it is equipped with the KA24DE, the motor is junk as the previous owner was nitrous happy. i have a freind that totaled a 2001 nissan altima with the ka24de. my question is how similar are the two motors?...can i drop the altima's ka into my 240? and if so, what additional parts would i need if not direct bolt in? thanks guys

You're going to have some issues with one being OBD1, and the other OBD2 and the altima being FWD.

Um as far as one bein obd1 and one bein obd 2,,, you have all the parts neccessary to convert already. Well, I guess it might depend on what year your motor is. but I think you should be ok, if anything, you might need an intake. Best way to find out is get em both on stands next to each other. At the very worst, you can sell the altima motor to somebody with an altima.

The FWD motor is quite a bit different from what I remember. IIRC the motor mounts are different, the bellhousing on a RWD tranny wont bolt up, and a few other things. Id just look for another 240 motor to replace yours.
