auto tranny wont shift out of high gear

Auto tranny wont shift out of high gear. feels like 3rd or 4th. The city health department is on my ass about the driveway so i cant do the swap for the next 3 weeks.

maybe some electrical to the TCU got damaged or something electrical because when i step on the brake while in park, i cant hear the relay (assuming) tick anymore, so i cant shift out out park without releasing it manualy.

any sugestions?

Check the transmission fluid level. If its to high or to low the torque converter can slip and it usually caused it to go to the high gear. What are your rpms at on start up when you try and shift out of park?

the fluid was fine just a little less then a 1/4 qt low. added it and still nothing.
and the tranny isnt in high gear, it just wont shift past 2nd. my mistake in the first post.

when i put it in drive and go from there, it feels like no power. Feels like Drive is starting off at 2nd. I can shift it down to 1st and it will feel about normal but the dam thing wont shift past 2nd. no freeway driving for me.

Probably torque converter, bad trans or bad shift solenoids but I'm not for sure on that one. Good luck with it though. Start asking around for an auto transmission. People pretty much give them away.

I've been through two dodgey gearboxes with these same symptoms, both were cooked. But, is it slipping in the higher gears? Or just not shifting at all? My second dodgey box would start off in 1st, rev to 3k, then shift to 3rd, and then go nowhere from there. Essentially a 2spd

my friend had that problem, then drove it around and it fixed its self. but his car was sitting for a cupple years. also after we fixed it his tranny hoses going to the radiator busted. we replased that and it works fine. so maby there is a clog in one of the lines or something. maby no fluid pressure.
