Hi.
I was just wondering how you can tell whether a used LSD is in good condition or in bad condition? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. |

look around the output shafts to make sure the seals are not leaking. If it looks like the back plate has some leaks around the gasket then check that out. Open it up and look to see how the wear on the ring and pinion are. Also mainly make sure it has not lost tons of oil because that is what will cause failure. As long as it has gear oil in it in the proper amount and has just been driven on the street and not raced a lot then its going to be fine. Most of the used VLSD's out there are in fairly good condition even with mileage on them. They are designed to last a long long time. Loss of oil and extremely hard driving would be the two main factors in causing them to fail. Oil loss being the main one.
