Just out of curiosity(spelling), has any one done, seen, or heard of a rotory(13b) swap into a 240sx. I was just wondering what it'd be like to have a FC/FD engine in a s13.

I have HEARD of it being done... never seen it, but I have seen rotaries in 86's, and sr20's in 86's... so you have to assume that if they both fit in that car they must fit in the 240. That would be a cool swap though...

There is a guy with an FC at the shop right now with a busted rotor, me and my friend were joking aroudn that when we pull the engine we should buy it from the guy for a couple hundred buck, rebuild it, and drop it in my car. He has rebuilt a bunch of rotories already.. so that wouldn't be the problem, and 600 bucks for an engine with a full rebuild would be sweet... but the thing that worries me is the reliablity of the older engines... the fd was more reliable than the fc... but the fc more efficient cause it didn't have that tt setup. I'll have to see what the engine and mounts really look like next to the KA that is lying on the floor in the shop right now.. we are still waiting for the guys new 13b to show up though..

i was wondering this also but for the money it would cost to do this you could easily have the SR swap instead but what ever floats your boat

Yeah but you have more rotaries to play with than SR engines. I was just wondering. To me, the cost of a SR-20 is too high. Yeah, it would be cheaper if they had the SR20DET in the states to begin with, but since I know how much I can get a good SR with a tranny in Japan I would never pay over a thousand bucks for an engine tranny combo. I can't see myself spending that kind of money on a used engine. I would actually think it would be more cost effective to drop a VG30DETT in a S13 because they're a little more easier to get in the states. Thats just my opinion though.

I heard the FC's were far better than the FD's. Something about USDM being machine Manufactured versus thge JDM hand made. I know the TT setup is a complete Be Atch but hell. I have no clue.

I know a guy who knows a guy who has the 13B in the 240 down here in Miami, so if your serious I'll try to find out about it. The thing is, I don't know if he knows the guy or knows about the guy, so...

Rotaries are some bad ass engines though...yeah, there's the whole rebuild thing, but that would be so Puerto Rican cool...

You know I'm all in favor of puttin different engines in cars. Side note on that, I'm not doing the VG33E V6 pathfinder swap in the Honda. I'd have to move the rack and pinion and it'd just be annoying, so the Honda will remain FF. Oh well.

As far as rotaries go, I love the idea. There's only a couple of problems. It's a 90,000 mile engine. Then you rebuild because the apex seals are toast. They use gas like crazy. If you get one, get a 4 speed instead of a 5 speed. The 4 speed keeps the engine in the upper rpms more, which is where optimal apex sealing occurs, and they get better gas mileage.

The reason for bad gas mileage is side ports vs. peripheral ports. If you want clarification on that, email me. The new 13b-REW is a sight to behold. Much better than the orginal version, although I doubt you'll have much luck finding a wrecked RX-8.

As far as 240's with 'em, I've never seen one, but if you want to do it, I think it'd be hella cool! (Stop saying hella, fatass&#33

Chickenman: the other day, this really hot chick came to my window in service at the Nissan dealer I'm at, and dropped off her Hardbody for service. She had a new clutch installed! I thought of you for some reason... just thought I'd share.

Now about the rotary: the last all-nissan meet I went to, I met this older gentleman with a Datsun 510 with a rotary swap. The thing was super-great. He said that the operation itself was simple.

I dont know how the trans is though... I suppose their trannies are different for the bell housing bolt-ups and whatnot...
