Altima rotors with Q45 calipers

Can I use altima rotors with q45 calipers? I'm having a hard time finding a place that will re-drill rotors. I've had these q45 calipers for a while now, and since they bolt right up and I'll need new rotors and pads anyway, why not?

q45 282mm x 28mm vs. altima 280mm x 22mm

Would performance be greatly sacrificed by using this combo? Is it safe?

Someone on another board said "the smaller 2mm dia isnt a big deal and 6mm width difference is easily absorbed throu the pad/pistons"

I was actually thinking the same thing, but just adding a couple shims.
Of course this would be considered _____________! [script]fill in the blank script[/script]

Really would like to know also. Is there any 4 lug rotors that would work with q45 calipers

you can use 93-99 altima rotors, with 89-99 maxima calipers, brackets, mounting hardware and pads, the pads will stick off of the rotor by like 1/4 in but it wont hurt your braking or even make any difference

Well someone sent me a IM and said they have been using this setup for 2 years and also autox. He said the only thing he had to do was adjust the brake booster/BMC rod. He adjusted it out just a hair and hasn't had any problems. This is on a s13 non-abs with stock BMC.

Yeah, the 180sx setup, but I'd prefer to just use what I have already.

how do you adjust the rod? So there are no 4 lug rotors that will work without any adjustment? Is the BMC rod like adjusting the clutch? Anyway, what year altima rotors are the specs you stated?

heavy throttle sells z32 26mm rotors that are redrilled for 4 lug and powder coated for about 150. i installed mine a couple of weeks ago and they work and look great. the pad fits perfect, it doesnt hang over the edge and is within a few mm of the inside. my brakes worked without any adjustments to the bmc, solid pedal and no lock up under hard braking.

Yeah, do that for me if you can. neejae (at) gmail.com

I guess the z32 redrilled rotors would be a better match, heat wise.

Bump to see if anyone else has any experience, opinions about this.

EDIT: Nevermind, searched and found a thread that said they're too thin.

if you call heavy throttle - they might be able to get you the proper rotors for the q brakes... or see ur local machine shop, or buy a drill bit.

brembo blanks 75$... drill bit 10$... porterfield q45 pads - 80$...

its not hard.

Sorry to thread jack, but is there any place out there that sells brackets so i can still use the q45 calipers, but run a even larger rotor?

Eh, for $150? I'll just drill some OE blank 5-luggers myself/use a drill press.

Nick, I can drill your rotors. You can nab that overflow bottle too. Hit me up.
