Hey I was curious if anyone here has the s15 6 speed tranny, how do you like it?  Does it bolt directly onto the redtops?  And I heard they are weak...what are your views on them?
THANKS! &nbsp;~!~ <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':sly:'>

There was a post on this a few days ago. I've heard that the 6spd is weaker, that makes sense if its the same size as the old 5spd, an extra gear would mean all of the gears are 1/5 smaller, whether or not Nissan did something to beef them up from there, i don't know... As far as fitment I've heard mention that S15s engine are not a direct swap into S13/S14.. I have nothing to back that up, and never heard why they would not fit. Presuming that the S15 SR had the same flywheel, and bellhousing as the S14 and S13, Im gonna go out on a limb and say that yes, it would bolt up, but would it bolt into the chassis of a S13 or S14. Well logic tells me that if the gearbox is the same size (afforementioned that the 6 spd was supposedly weaker before of the same size casing and an extra gear) I'd said there is a decent chance they still have the same mounting brackets, but they could have just as easily design a whole new casing, or even just changed the mounting points to accomadate to the S15 better..... So I don't have a real yes/no answer, but theres some stuff for you to think about anyways... Plus S15 clips cost an arm and a leg for virtually no more benefits, yeah an extra gear, vvt and a little more power from the factory, but im just not made of money and could see those extra thousands of dollars going toward mods that would bring the power of a redtop far beyond the S15s. You can make other trannys from other cars work if you really wanted a 6spd, which would be more easier, and probably in turn more cost effective im just not sure... 5gears seems to be more than enough for daily driver, Your not trying to do something dumb like go 160+mph, are you?

Actully the s15 sr fits right into the s14 chassis. With the s15 sr you also have to install the drive shaft, rear diff, six speed tranny. The reason is due to the speed sensor being located in the rear diff which i think is connected to the drive shaft so ou have to install the whole thing. The s13 has to do alot of modifacation because of the tranny mounting locations that is true and the enind monts i belive as well. But the s14 can take all threee motors s13,s14,s15 sr20det's.

lol... all i remember is Yury having problems with the speed sensor... I think it was just the dash wiring or something to do with the S15 sensor and some S14 components not working well together.

makes sense now, I had heard of cars going to rear end speed sensors instead of tranny ones..
