tach not working right
hi my tach on my 96 bone stock 240sx is not working right. it gets to about 3 grand and will not go past that, but the motor revs/drives fine. so what do you guys think it is? it acts normal up to 3 grand

hey man.. sorry about these guys im a noob also and iv gotten shit for not searching alot too. but it is true i realized that after i started using the search tool.. but it still no reson for everyone to be an asshole.. sorry

but yea what kind of tach is it?? when they are new you will have to cut certian wires to indicate what its bein installed on like on my auto meter ther was three wires and one you cut if you were installing on a v8,one for 4 cyl and i think one for rotary so yea if its new just read the installation directions

More than likely your tach is toast. Mine did this a couple of years ago and I just replaced it. Worked like a charm after that. Just take apart another cluster and swap the tachs out so your speedo has the correct mileage on it. Takes an hour at most. Check the classifieds or ebay. You should be able to find a new cluster for cheap.
