if you want a VE motor...just get a S14 or S15 SR...they were the first nissan motors to use VVL...S14/S15 notchtops use a VVL intake cam to help with low and power to help battle turbo lag...the N/A versions just used the VVL cam to add a bit of umph to the torque range/power band

there is no actual RWD configuration for the SR20ve motor

really its just the cams i believe that are better in the head, well and a bit different in the flow of the head lol. for the price alone for find a VE head (the vvl model) your better off just ordering some tomei cams with like a 256 lift and slapping those bad boys in there

for the FWD guys...the VE motors are pretty decent...they dont yield the same horesepower turnarounds that the DET motors do...but they can make a good amount of power (last time i checked...some guys were pullin 250-275 to the wheels all motor)

I've been wanting to build a N/A SR using DET block, 20VE head, 16VE cams, 20DE pistons and rods and some carbs...

Would be a badass N/A set up. However unless you do some racing where raw power doesn't really mean shit then it's a waste of time.

UH the VE heads are more than just another VVL design.. They're full blown VTEC and come from the factory with solid lifters... SR16VE cam profile is 240 low/ 290 high...

well to get a good NA motor for the price to find anything why not just run a rwd sr20de

but than again there is the whole fight over why the hell you would do it, for the power you would make for the cost you could have one hell of a sr20det. for ITB's alone on a NA setup your looking at $2500

i think everyone has wanted to build a NA rwd set up at some point, but really the question of "is it worth it" really stumps people

like i said before, to find the actual head and make i work on a rwd block your looking at more than just slapping it on

its true, most guys won't get over 300 to the wheels on an na motor

the only real NA rwd motor i want is the autech s15 motor, just cause i love high compression NA motors

^^^hahahaha. 300whp NA on a DE? yeah right.

Check out www.sr20forum.com to study up on your VE. There are 2 guys on there that are in the process of building RWD VEs (FWD VE head on RWD DET block). They've been in the process for a while. It's something I've always wanted to do, but not until someone else does, hahaha.

VVL is fully variable valve timing and lift. like iVTEC, not just VTEC. So a turbo VE's power curve is quite superior to a DET's and VE's have the capability to rev higher.

My suggestion is to go with the DET and buy the HKS Step 3 Head System and the Step 3 Cams, if it's for a daily driver get some "milder" 256/256 cams but anyway you work it that setup will enable you to rev to 9k...get that and like a GT35R and you will be making mustangs go home on your way to work in the morning lol....I haven't really read anything about the VE so my opinion probably doesn't even matter in this thread lol peace man good luck with your build.

My buddy put a SR20VE in his NX2000, and recently turbo charged it. Was quick as shit, now kinda ridiculous for such a small car. Compression is a little high for a turbo car, but the VE head flows very well, and JWT can help out with a simple re-map of the ECU. The VE motor stock to DET stock is surprisingly not too far behind in actual race number according to some older track runs on an Autocross course local..but again this was in FWD class. Don't know if this helps? Good luck.

I have a SR20VE in my daily driver NX2000. I love that motor to death, I plan on doing a RWD SR20+VE+T after I get done with my 240. I have a few other friends with VE's in fwd cars, The highest Revs we have seen is @ 9600rpm on the dyno and 9300ish on the street(Aftermarket valve springs in the head. H22 Crower springs are the same size). We were testing some bigger cams on the motor. I'd rather use a VE head than drop bigger cams in DE, It will drive/idle like a normal car till you hit the VVL cross over points then it's a diffrent ball game.

I bought 2 of them at the same time. 1.6 and 2.0.

I paid $1250 for the 2.0 motor and $1150 for the 1.6 motor. Then it was $300 to ship it from FL. Sometimes people sell the heads and front cover for $800ish with the 2.0 cams in there.
