SR (red top): how do you know when the ECU is bad?

If you ever had to replace your ecu can you post what symptoms led you to beleive it was that. Right now I'm going through a crisis and the only thing left for me test is the ecu. Basically, I just want to hear what you people have to say about your experiences with replacing your ecu's. at what point in the process did you say: it can't be that, or that, it's got to be the ecu.

Post if you ever experienced this. Thanks!

I don't think I've ever heard of someone's ECU just going bad. It technically should last as long as the car does assuming you don't fuck it up yourself.

What is the problem with the car?

If, the connection to the ecu is straight to and object minus relay and you tested that connection and object? It's probably the ecu.

I could probably right scenarios out for hours....But if you suspect an ecu problem just get an ecu. It can be used as a testing tool, but only if your sure it's the ecu or you'll end up with two F'ed ecu's

Just tested the ecu and it works fine. I guess I'm SOL for now. My car has been giving me problems with not revving past a certain RPM and yesterday it really started running crappier than ever before. It's not the MAF, FP or a boost leak, its all been tested. I don't know if it could be the TPS, but I honestly haven't tested that yet. I'll continue to work on it tomorrow with my brother-in-law that's been a great help during this whole process.
