Bucket Seat recommendations

Need some sugguestions for bucket seats for my S14. I'm 6'1 and 165lbs.

I know its the best to actually sit in these seats but unfortunately its easier said then done. If anyone can chime in and make some recommendations on good seats that would met the following criteria:

1) Good bang for the dollar
2) reliable/safe (don't want the seat to fall apart in a crash)
3) can use good rails (like bride fg or nagisa)
4) good place to get order one

I'd like to keep my budget around $300-400 for a good seat

Thanks,
Paul

I wouldn't "recommend" either, but if I had to choose between the two, Buddy Club

Signal seats (i.e same as Chargespeed) are pretty flexy, moreso than I prefer

Buddy Clubs are probably best bang for buck in that price range, but the looks are so so (fabric pattern / material)

But can't be choosy when you are on a budget

Appreciate the referral, but please take note about what I am about to say

IF YOU FIND A BRIDE FG RAIL (for side mount bucket seats) IN STOCK ANYWHERE

BUY IT IMMEDIATELY

Even if you don't have a seat yet, but know you are going to get one for sure

BUY THE RAIL FIRST

Reasoning is because these things are never in stock, always on backorder, and not something you can get easily in a bind

Even if you have to pay full price, or pay $10-20 more, who cares, you want a good set of rails at least

Justin @ Westco was the last person I knew who had some in stock right now for S chassis

It depends on how big your seat is. If you are stuck with the stock mounting locations and the seats are too wide beyond the rail's adjustment, it won't fit at all.

Anything in between can be adjusted. The brackets on the rails have slots that can be adjusted to center the seat to the wheel.

Has anyone tried out the wide version Buddy Club? cause I know, you have to be built like a japanese girl to fit in their regular seats.

Personally, I'm waiting for the new Panda Garage seats. Exact same as Thrash. blahzay blah.

I have the BC wide on my daily and like it, but a little flexy compared to my original Sparco EVO 2 but not by much. I'm 5'5 196lbs and if anyones ever met me in person I'm a cinder block with tree trunk legs. lol.

You have 2 holes in the middle?

I have the recaro pole position. It isn't in my car yet because the rails suck. I am in the process of making a custom bracket with the seat touching the floor.

lmao we're in the same dilemma, except im 6'2 and 270lbs, im working on reducing my fat mass, but still i am quite large shoulders/legs/etc...

I am still undecided on what i will get... i need to test in real life seats... on paper values are useless to me ultimately... :/

I used to be 180lbs 6'2 lol i was very bony (well still big/cut but to me its bony compared to now plus being tall, same now.. i dont reaaally look fat as im tall lol) could fit into anything... but it was still a little tight in most of the smaller seats.. so imagine now... my shoulders/legs/hips are huge...

I have a workout schedule planned out for 3 months straight without stop... every day, only one day off (which is 1 hour of stretching/light cardio actually)... we'll see what happens in 3 months from now haha... ive already done two weeks... lost 5-10lbs since beginning of this month though (diet too since my wife and I got our own appartment -- no more mom over feeding me hahahaha).

Marriage does wonders to one's athleticism lol... I went from 180lbs endurance fighter/mma (well not ufc but u get the idea) to 260lbs lazy ass/non flexible bubba in like 3 months or something... then i started working out one month went from 260lbs to 245lbs all pumped lol... then went to night shift for 3 months and became 270lbs... and then not too long ago 280lbs... and here i am now.. back down to 270lbs and pumping mass and cardio again :P I need to lose lots of fat and get cut again

Best bucket seat = loose weight lol

a_ahmed I know what you mean. I train mma as well and have fought at 170lbs in amateur smokers, but with the injury to my back (2 herniated disks at the base of my spine) I've been getting bigger and fatter. . But with all the Greco training its put some serious muscle mass on my shoulders and upper body making my Buddy Club 'wide' seat kind of overly tight up top. I feel my shoulders are being squeezed in sometimes making it hard to shift. If money permits I recommend the EVO 2 or 3 to any stocky meat-head type of guy. lol.

I love my cheap Momo bucket. Uses bottom-mount (not Bride side-mount) rails/brackets, and can be found new for less than $300 sometimes. Very comfy, and I'm about the same size (too big for a Bride, for sure).

i have bride zeta III L and its really tight meaning my leg is really close to each other.. its hard to press the brake and gas.. my leg literally just stay at one position and kind of just swing your ankle.. but i got used to it and im keeping it.. im 6'0 and 170lbs.. my next seat would defin. be corbeau...momo or sparco... price is right and doesnt hurt my pocket

i got spl, but you should get f1 spec seat, they are fairly priced and good rigid construction and also fit nicely. you can make your own bracket for the seat and make it lower etc. just a lil more work

Are you kidding me? Buddy clubs flex like crazy. EVERYBODY knows this.

Sparco/Bride/Recaro is where it's at.

To the OP: I highly recommend going to a local dealer and trying out seats for yourself. What one person finds comfortable, you may find unbearable. When I was looking at seats I tried out a panda garage, a signal, a buddy club, and several others. I ended up going to a local sparco dealer and sat in a sparco circuit, sparco pro2000, and two sizes of the evo. Both the evo1 and pro2000 fit my frame correctly, but the pro2000 just felt really uncomfortable (tight in some places, loose in others, protrusions cause interference with elbows when turning), whereas the evo fit perfectly. FYI I'm 5'11, 175. I would look into the evo1 or pro2000 and maybe some of the smaller brides and recaros.

Bottom line is that you won't find a seat in your price range that meets all of your requirements, unless you get a good deal on a used one or settle for something uncomfortable like a kirkey.

Thanks everyone for all the advice and input. Much appreciated.

Unfortunately I don't have a local dealer since I'm in Ohio...

Few ?'s: Panda garage? Who sells those?

I might as well save for a Zeta 3...who's the best to get one from?

Thanks

The dealer I went to was just outside of Cincinnati. You near there? If you are in any major city there should be a shop that sells seats.

PG:
http://www.pandagarage.com/Interior/PG%20seats.htm

Their seats are the same as what SPL used to sell. Not fia like the higher end brides and sparcos but definately stiffer than buddy club.

Here is what Status FIA hardware looks like today:

Lets see Bride, Sparco, Recaro, Buddy Club, F1, etc....

This needs to be a source of good info on seats, not opinions.

Recaro Pole Position is a good entry level seat. I can fit comfortably at 38" waist.

Yeah. FG rails are hard as fuck to get.

Buy some now.

So you aren't assed out later.

I'm using fg rails and haven't had any issues with them.

The new nagisa D-lock looks to be better than their prior single lock.

Haven't tried it out but I'm pretty sure shits ok.

Recaro PP won't fit regular rails I think.

Something like they are too wide. But I'm not sure of that.

Logan educate me!

I know it works with nagisa rails, but you can only mount it on the upper hole and it takes a little persuasion to bolt it in to the floor.

i've sat in a few Racetech seats and like them a lot. I'm 5'11 and about 200lbs. Fits well. Just another brand to look into.

I love my Status Ring GT. However, its not the most affordable seat. But for FIA approval, you're going to spend some $$$. All depends on your taste vs. wallet.
