i know i would have to have a fuel rail to make them fit properly, but i was wondering if a set of 550's that are bought for a dsm would still work with the ka along with either a custom fuel rail or a JWT fuel rail?

reason asking i can get an awsome deal on this set....

thanks

Get the sr 550cc. They will fit in the stock fuel rail so it'd be cheaper than getting the jwt rail. And i don't think dsm will fit the jwt rail cuz it's 2 different companies (don't quote me on that though)

Not all injectors were created equally. So, side feed injectors by Nissan (typically a funny injector) can not be replaced by Supra injectors. It will be a trial and error project for you. If it goes in the stock rail without leaks, you're fine. Also, the JWT rail is made for top feed injectors.

No... I wasn't denying that they would fit... I really don't know if DSM injectors would fit or not... I just posted so I could be the one to say "I told you so." It seems people at FA know more about injectors than here. One thing that is for sure, is that Nissan uses funny injectors, which is why people swap to sr or z32 injectors. It is much less hassle.
-Jeff

BTW: You don't need a MAF for injectors of comprable size... if you have an ecu or AFC, then you can correct for them. Finally, you have posted alot about a cheap turbo kit, and if so, DO NOT get 550cc injectors unless you plan to run that much boost. First off, an AFC cannot compensate that much (that is a little more than 2 times the fuel) and your idle, gas mileage, and performance will suffer badly, unless you get the JWT ecu, a fuel pump, and MAF (these are not comprable size).

thanks for the advice jeff,

when i say cheap turbo kit i do not mean cheap parts just finding the best prices for what i want and all parts are quality, espically when it comes to supplying fuel!!

as for the 550's my plans were in "stage II" to get either 370's, jwt ecu, and a walbrow 255 fuel pump, cobra maf, along with if i dont already have it a FMIC!!

and i did plan on turning the boost up, maybe an afc or datalogger for tuning, there is a dyno shop that specialized in tuning imports about an hour away from where i live.

what ya think....sound like a plan??

Pick a boost number, and build towards that goal. Once you hit that goal, if you want, go higher. You cannot get away with a Cobra MAF with an AFC. You can, however, get away with a z32 maf and afc. The cobra maf needs a special program just for it on the ecu. The z32 maf is good to 12-14psi. The JWT cobra program utilizes 4bar fuel pressure and much more. It seems like a really expensive way to get 8-10psi (I don't know what you are building up for.) I know nobody wants cheap parts... but I was talking budget turbo kit.

Why would there be a problem using a Cobra MAFS and an AFC? You'd have to dyno tune it since the difference becomes nonlinear compared to the stock MAFS, but there's no reason it wouldn't be impossible.

The reason people use the Cobra MAF is because it operates on the same voltage range as the stock 240sx MAFS. JWT simply has the program at hand to compensate for the much larger flow range per voltage reading.

wouldnt it be better to set a HP goal and build towards that??

or would it just be a preference(horrible spelling)

My HP goal is set to be 275-300 hp, so what size injectors would be working within the "green" of their duty cycle?

i know that you were talking about a budget turbo, i was just trying to give you a hard time!

if you want 300 crank hp, then the stock MAF and 370s with and afc will get you that. However, they won't get you much more then that.
Also the DE and SR have the same fuel rail (I don't know if you can swap them, but they use the same injectors) it is a sidefeed system, pretty much everybopdy else in the world uses a top feed system. You can jsut get larger and larger sr injectors if you want. The JWT fuel rail is the normal style, you can pretty much run whatever injectors you want. Lots of people run MSD injectors, but you don't have to. with that rail, then you could run DSM or supra injectors

Yea.. thats all true. I was simply saying that an AFC cannot compensate for a cobra maf. It is an expensive MAF to buy, then the ECU reprogram, which a lot of people would rather not buy. It is a month-long wait, and $595. Thats all.

I kinda didn't really mean that to be taken literaly. I have no idea about if they are the same, I can't even remember if the stock fpr is welded or otherwise permenatly mounted to the fuel rail.

Damnit, Jspec is selling one for the sr20. it looks pretty much the same as the one we have and the flanges seem to be in the right place. But the screw that goes on top seems going out to far, and i'm afraid it might hit the block and not fit when i try putting it back in. I emailed them, and they said they didn't know. So I'm asking around. Thanx anyways though.

so 240racer will the jwt fuel rail work with the ka since it uses side feed injectors....does the fuel rail compensate for the awkwardness??
