damn bushings wont go in!

Hey guys.. I'm in the middle of TRYING to press my es bushings into my control arms.. It isn't turning out so good. Greased up the bushing, and the arm.. the center of the bushing mushrooms out, and won't go in the arm at all. I've tried warming up the arms with a torch, but that hasn't helped... So far I'm trying the short toe arm. Maybe the others will go in easier.. any ideas??

Throw the bushings into the refrigerator for a couple of hours so that they shrink.

Hey guys, I burned the old ones out and removed the sleeves. The four control arm bushings I got in without a problem, its thee to fat lipped ones that are the problem. All the other small ones are easy. Any advice for the big fat lipped fuck bushings? Fuckin bushings....

Bart

EDIT: the fat lipped ones are the only 2 like bushings in the ES kit for the S14. There were 10 smallest ones for knuckles, and ruca, toe arm... I think the two fat lipped ones are for the rear most arms.. any ideas??

try two large diameter washers on either side of the bushing, run a bolt through and put a nut on the end, use a wrench and start tightening the bolt it should squeeze the bushing into the hole.

dam dude.. thats harsh..are you using a press? or a hammer?
if your using a hammer.. I have the solution.. GET A BIGGER HAMMER! haha. jk man. dont do that. putting new parts in freezer works in conjunction with heating up the arm, thats how i did mine. Expansion, and contraction..simple.. whats the problem.. jk.. i had a hell of a time doing mine. I did the heat/cold stuff.

That's what I'd do. Use a press after the bushings are in the freezer and the arm is heated up.

yeah silicone spray and a press. If you dont have one, most garages do, pay 5 or 10 bucks, and have them throw them in for you if you're having alot of trouble.

Old ones are nothing more than dust by now. Yea, I know how to match them up. I was just trying to make sure I wasn't trippin. I wound up getting the last two in. I used a grinder to sand down the angled part to make more of an arrow shape. Gotem in.. Vise, press, nothing worked until now. Bart 1, bushings.. 0.
