before i go in deeper to investigate i was just wondering if maybe someone had this problem already and there is a simple solution... i have an 97 S14 and my air con was working PERFECT for the passed 4 months since i bought my car, and now the air only comes through the defrost vents no matter which mode i set it to... i took out the AC console to check the plugs and wires and everything was fine, i did notice this metal panel above the main AC inlet piping that when pushed down on the air comes through all the vents, but otherwise when i dont push it down it stays down and deflects the air to the defrost vents... any idea what could be wrong here??? thanks in advance for all your help guys!!!

i had a similar problem but mine would only blow hot air through the defrost vents, anyways... turns out it was the A/C fuse in the fusebox down by your left foot. maybe your's is the same?

Mode door motor is bad. Replace it.
