Cool man. How much did you pay and where from? Did it come with everything needed for the swap? Thanx.

ummm...i think the blacktop S13 SR motor is supposed to have a "wrinkle finish" top. i think you might have gotten a redtop that has been "eBayed"

and what's up with that injector that's all bent to hell?

you need to take more pics and post them up here. i'm a bit worried from what i see.

Eric

he means someone sprayed it so that they could slap a couple hundred bucks on the price and call it a Blacktop. Where did you get it? (or did you say already?)

damn, what came with that?

I just got a Blacktop S13 Engine with ECU, no turbo (got a deal on a S15 T28), 5-speed tranny and MAF for 1400$ CDN. That's around 875$ USD! Hopefully, everything is going to work out fine (I'll check everything out on thursday before keeping it) I just need an ignitor chip to get started.

www.osakajdmmotors.com - the shop is located in Montreal, Canada.

Normally, an S13 (Red or Black) engine goes for 1600CDN (1000US). Includes engine, tranny, ecu: no maf, no ignitor chip.

I got mine without turbo but it had a MAF attached for 1400CDN (875US).

There's a 3 month warranty on the engine and turbo.

Please note that up here, an engine without ignitor chip and maf retails at around 1500-2000$CDN (940-1275USD).

I would love to, but I don't trust this shop enough to do it. I bought it because I know that it will be easy to return it if something happens. It would be a pain in the *** for you guys in the US to ship it back. And all the problems with crappy engines would be blamed on me. So that is why I do not organize any group deals with this seller. Hope you understand.

For the guy who bought the motor set:

Blacktops don't come with a wrinkle finish. To tell whether its a real blacktop or not check the front of the head. If you have fins than it's a blacktop if it's smooth then it's a redtop.

Your fuel rail is bent. Happens all the time on motor sets. That's where people (who have no clue) wrap the chain around when they are pulling the motor. Sucks cause your gonna need a new fuel rail and probably a new injector. Take a good look cause I bet there's more stuff broken. Happens all the time when people buy incomplete motorsets.

It wouldn't be very hard. And I would only recommend it if you know you can send it back without any hassle. A warranty isn't really good when it costs 300$ to ship it back.

And you can also use a Q45 ignitor chip or a 16V 1988-90 Pulsar ignitor cheap which is much cheaper.

Read here: FA thread about osakajdmblahblahengines.

The consensus is that if you are in town, you can go kick enough ass to get a good engine at a great price. If you are from out of town or out of the country, lube up.
